The demand for archives utilization has been released with the rapid development of society,economic and Internet technology,and archives actively digitize the collection to adapt to this change.However,most of the current archives digitization work can only realize the catalog retrieval rather than the full-text retrieval,and the utilization is still very difficult,especially the utilization of historical archives.Archives transcription is an effective way to achieve full-text retrieval of files,and it is conducive to the effective use of file information on the premise of maintaining the original of file information.However,large-scale archives transcription needs a lot of human resources.Therefore,it is the common choice for many countries to attract social forces to participate in it.In recent years,the number of such cases that archives,libraries and museums absorb public forces to participate in archives transcription through the Internet is increasing day by day,and plenty of these cases have archived great success.At the same time,the online archives transcription platform is fully developed,and the forms of file transcription tend to be diversified.In this context,the same type of cases began to appear in China,but the practical effect is not ideal.In order to make archives transcription to be large-scale and promote the development and utilization of archives transcription.This paper starts with the characteristics of the era of archives transcription,and takes Australian Newspaper Digitisation Program,Ancestry World Archives Project and Transcribe Bentham as examples for analysis.Then discuss the absorption of society under the leadership of national,market and social forces.Finally,it puts forward some suggestions for archives transcription based on the current situation and problems.
