Realistic sound propagation effects can improve the immersion and interaction of virtual reality system.Sound propagation simulation technology has become an important branch in the computer graphics.At present,the sound propagation simulation technology in the field of computer graphics seldom considers the particularity of underwater sound propagation,so it is difficult to directly apply them to the underwater scenes.This paper presents a sound propagation method for underwater environment.We combines the normal mode method suitable for underwater acoustic field calculation with the ray tracing method which can capture geometric information of scenes in computer graphics.Meanwhile,the switch of ray model is controlled based on threshold parameter to improve the efficiency and authenticity of ray tracing method.In the running stage,a method based on local geometric information verification is proposed,which can effectively reduce the storage cost of the program to the precomputed samples and the loading cost of the program.The results were rendered in audible audio and which are consistent with the audience’s perception of underwater sound propagation.In addition,numerical methods and hybrid methods need precomputation,which are not suitable for interactive computation in full dynamic scenes.However,geometric methods that can realize interactive rendering need occupy too much GPU resources and thread resources.In this paper,a lightweight method based on dynamic impulse responses(IRs)adjustment is proposed to provide interactive sound propagation simulation for fully dynamic underwater virtual scenes.On this basis,it is proposed to save the network bandwidth of online VR system based on dead reckoning.Finally,considering that the underwater scenes contains the hydrodynamic noise caused by moving objects which affects the correct reception of sound information,the Wiener filter is integrated into the algorithm to control the noises.The experimental results show that our method can produce near-real sound effect and occupies a small amount of resources.
