A Discourse Analysis Of The Response To The Regular Press Conference Of The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs

As an important department in China,the spokesmen of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs speak with political color both internally and externally.Every press conference is a political game between countries.At the regular press conference of the Foreign Ministry,"What we are fighting is the firm words of the war of words and the thinking of the war without blood." In this process,the reporter is just the latest policy of China and the world widespread concern of the spokesman for questioning,spokesman with the scene of the independent output information and answer questions from reporters,their voice and information through the official channels and press coverage to spread to the world,the major policies to promote China’s open the window.At a regular press conference,reporters ask questions based on a certain purpose.The way journalists choose to ask questions makes it easier to get the answers they want,transmit them back to the country,and enhance the exchange of information between countries.In the face of the turbulent international environment,the spokesman represents the image and voice of the government in the discourse communication.In this process,in order to better convey the information of the country and safeguard the interests of the country on the basis of cooperation,the spokesperson was cautious in the choice of language strategy when answering the reporter’s questions,seeking to realize the double values of international information sharing and national interests with the most appropriate language.In this paper,based on the corpus collected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to the COVID-19 epidemic,the author firstly analyzes and studies the questions raised by journalists,classifies the questions raised by reporters into routine questions,viewpoints and attitudes questions and evidence-seeking questions,and summarizes the mode of journalists’ questions.Then use the case analysis method to explain the reporter in the process of questioning the use of the question mode.Second,journalists trap the speaker in their questions in order to get more information,so that they can get more valuable news leads and events.When faced with questions from various domestic and foreign journalists with different goals,the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will adopt corresponding pragmatic strategies to realize the value of language communication.In the research of this paper,the author analyzes which pragmatic strategies speakers choose to use when facing questions raised by reporters at press conferences.The Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry and the journalists on the scene are the core figures of the press conference.They complement each other and jointly contribute to the success of the press conference.Based on this,the spokesman and the reporter are in a cooperative relationship to a certain extent.Therefore,both spokesmen and journalists should respect their right to speak as much as possible in the dialogue.Throughout the press conference,the spokesmen’s words spread to all parts of the world through the reporters’ reports.At the end of this article,based on the previous two studies,the author analyzes what kind of communication value the spokesmen of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have realized in the press conference.Through the study,this paper draws the question mode of reporters and effective pragmatic strategies adopted by spokesmen,which is of great significance to better disseminate Chinese information internationally and realize the discourse value of spokesmen in the future.
