With the rapid growth of information technology and the massive increase in data size,traditional computing model can no longer meet the needs of nowadays data processing.As a new computing model,cloud computing has effectively met the condition of different software enterprises for data processing and data storage due to its on-demand self-service and broad network access characteristics.It has become the first choice for more and more software vendors and government agencies deploying their applications.However,many new problems have shown,while the cloud platform brings a lot convenience to users.Performance evaluation of cloud platform network becomes one of those problems.Cloud platforms are often facing a large number of cloud platform tenants and massive amounts of data.Nowadays,cloud platform tenants not only require the availability of the functions which cloud platform provided,but also demand more on the performance and reliability of the cloud platform in processing their own business.The performance of cloud platform network has become a bottleneck for the cloud platform to provide large-scale external services.Therefore,it is necessary to evaluate the performance of cloud platform network.Although there are existing testing methods for traditional network performance,they do not take the characteristics of different levels of cloud platform into account,and lacks methods of collecting indicators at different levels,so it is not appropriate to use traditional network performance test tools directly.Comparing to traditional network performance evaluation,research on performance evaluation of cloud platform network still need to develop,and most of research only test the cloud platform network performance from a single dimension,lacking of completeness.Therefore,it's significant and meaningful to research and evaluate the performance of cloud platform network.Firstly,this paper investigates the current research status of performance evaluation on cloud platform and performance evaluation on cloud platform network,as a reference and basis for this paper's work.Secondly,this paper introduces the cloud computing technology,OpenStack cloud platform and network virtualization technology of OpenStack cloud platform,so as to have a better understanding of performance evaluation issues on cloud platform network.Thirdly,combined with the existing research work,this paper proposes a multi-level and multi-granularity combined evaluation model on cloud platform network performance,and state and design the key issues while establishing the model,including test indicators,test loads,test scenarios,test procedures,and comprehensive evaluation model.Fourthly,on the basis of the evaluation model,this paper design and develop NetPerfTest as an automated and expandable performance evaluation tool on cloud platform network.Tool users only need to log in to the website of NetPerfTest and select test items then submit the test configuration to start the test.During the test,the evaluation tool will dynamicly display test indicators and test logs in real-time.When the test is finished,the system will also generate a test report and a score for this test to tool users.At last,this paper builds an OpenStack cloud platform for experimental verification.This paper use NetPerfTest evaluation tool to do combined test to evaluate the performance of OpenStack platform in platform,virtual machine,and application dimensions and analyze the test results.The test results verify the feasibility of the evaluation model and prove that the evaluation tool can evaluate the cloud platform network performance effectively.
