In May 2019,the Bureau of Industry and Security of the U.S.Department of Commerce included Huawei on the "Entity List",which was a huge blow to the chip industry.However,it forced Chinese companies to strengthen independent research and development and increase the development speed of Chinese semiconductors at the same time.Domestic factories and producers also began to turn their attention to domestic chips to support the development of the domestic chip industry.The global economy is greatly affected due to coronavirus in 2020.The global chip supply chain was affected to varying degrees,which stagnated the production of some countries.The global chip industry is in short supply.This article uses ABC classification and joint inventory management as the main theoretical basis to study firm A and analyzes the current environment with reference to past historical documents.Through firm A’s overview,chip industry situation and inventory management status,combined with data analysis and interviews,summarize the problems and causes of firm A’s inventory management process.Subsequently,combining practice and theory,a solution suitable for firm A’s inventory management was proposed from three aspects: data,purchasing methods,and inventory operation procedures.Finally,safeguard measures are put forward for firm A’s inventory management method.As a small and medium-sized chip distributor,the author found a scientific inventory management method through data analysis,interviews and literature research,and improved the company’s inventory management through a data-driven inventory management method.This lays a good foundation for the company’s future development.It will have certain reference value for other small and medium-sized dealers.
