In recent years,with the harsh climate environment,geological disasters have occurred frequently.Once the dam body formed by the landslide blocking the river breaks,it will bring a huge disaster risk.In this paper,through flume experiments,the characteristics of failure parameters under different failure modes is studied.First of all,by consulting the data,collect typical dam cases and related experimental data,including geometric parameters of the dam body,failure parameters and upstream flow conditions.After analyzing and sorting out the data,three different failure modes of the dam body including overtopping failure,progressive failure and slip failure were analyzed by controlled the material,the angle of the backwater slope,the bed slope and the incoming flow conditions.The failure process under different failure modes,the hydraulic characteristics of the failure flow and the characteristics of the variation of the breaches,it is found that no matter what the failure mode,there will be a process of overburden erosion.Secondly,through the comparison of experimental data,the influence of the failure mode of the landslide dams on the failure process,the discharge,the flow velocity,the flow depth and the failure change characteristics is analyzed.Under the three failure modes,there is a process of overburden erosion.The difference is that under the progressive failure,the downstream slope of the dam body collapses in a small area and gradually develops upwards during the Impoundment stage.In the process of slip failure,due to the weak stability performance,the dam body slides as a whole,the water flows over the whole dam body,and the dam crest is eroded.Regarding the peak discharge of the collapse,the progressive collapse has the best amplifying effect on the upstream incoming flow,followed by the slip failure,and finally the overtopping failure.Finally,this paper considers the various factors that affect the peak discharge of a landslide dam failure,and proposes a method to predict the peak discharge of the failure based on the failure mode.Through the analysis and fitting of the discharge data in the three failure modes,the relationship between the peak discharge(Qp)and the influencing factors in different failure modes was found,and the geometric parameters of the dam body,the storage capacity and the upstream incoming flow were established.Model to estimate peak discharge.
