Study On The Influence Of High-speed Railway On The Economic Development Of Jilin Province Based On Double Difference Model

With the rapid development of high-speed railroad in China,it has gradually become an important symbol to measure the economic development of a city,and high-speed railway has become an important tool for transportation in China because of its convenience and speed.And it accelerates the flow of resource elements along the route,bringing new development opportunities for the economy of the region along the route.Only a more comprehensive understanding of the impact of high-speed rail on the economy can establish a more complete high-speed rail network and implement a railroad policy more in line with economic development,so that high-speed rail transportation can develop faster and better.This paper firstly combines the theoretical basis of the impact of high-speed rail on economic development,and qualitatively analyzes the impact of high-speed rail on regional accessibility,economic growth,and industrial structure.Then,by understanding the current situation of the high-speed railway network and economic level in Jilin Province,the impact of the high-speed railway on the economic development of Jilin Province is further discussed mainly on three main economic aspects of Jilin Province’s per capita GDP,GDP growth rate and industrial structure.The panel data of 8 prefecture-level cities and 39 county-level cities in Jilin Province from 2005 to 2019 were selected as examples,and the impact of high-speed rail on the economy of Jilin Province was quantitatively analyzed by Stata software.The propensity matching score(PSM)was used to determine the experimental group and the control group to reduce the differences between the two.Finally,the impact of the opening of the high-speed rail on the economy of Jilin Province was obtained through the double difference(DID)method.This paper finds from the above study that high-speed railway can drive the per capita GDP and GDP growth rate of Jilin province.Also,the opening of high-speed railway will optimize the industrial structure of Jilin Province.Finally,through the analysis of the research findings,we propose corresponding policy recommendations to promote the development of high-speed rail in Jilin Province,so that the construction and operation of high-speed rail can be improved and bring more opportunities and breakthroughs for the economic development of Jilin Province.
