With the continuous compression of power transmission corridors due to the urbanization process, the development of more green and space-saving HTS power devices has gradually received more attention, and increasingly high requirements for superconducting materials have been put forward.Superconductors with high critical temperatures have always been the pursuit of researchers, but they are still in a bottleneck period. The hybrid method is an effective way to obtain supercon-ductors with better performance which is worth exploring. And the hybri tapes combines the advantages of different types of superconducting tapes and provides more costeffective options. In this paper, the characteristics of the first generation HTS tape(1G)BSCCO and the second generation HTS tape(2G)REBCO are compared, and their advantages are analyzed.Based on this, the main reason for hybrid-better thermal stability is proposed, and the thermal stability of hybrid tapes are investigated.Firstly,a threedimensional thermal stability simulation model for hybrid tapes was established, and three different types of hybrid tapes were numerically simulated.Their minimum quench energy(MQE)and quench propagation velocity(NZPV)were calculated at 77 K in adiabatic conditions. The results were compared and analyzed with those of a single BSCCO tape and a single REBCO tape.Secondly, the thermal stability experiments of the 1G/2G hybrid tapes were conducted, and the thermal stability of single BSCCO tape, single REBCO tape, and RB hybrid tape were explored through experiments.Under experimental conditions, the wrapping of the sample through thermal insulation materials make the thermal insulation conditions close to those of numerical simulation, and the experimental results were compared with the simulation results, and error analysis was made.Based on the simulation and experimental investigation of the thermal stability of the 1G/2G hybrid tapes,a simulation model of the 1G/2G hybrid HTS DC cable was initially established. The critical current, current decay rate, and DC ripple loss of three different types of HTS DC cables were simulated and calculated, and the application of the 1G/2G hybrid tapes in HTS power devices was preliminarily explored. |
