The origin of particle morphology is closely related to its mineral composition and geological process.Under the action of transportation,deposition and external erosion,different types of particles show obvious differences in morphology.The morphological characteristics of particles determine the basic properties of granular soil,and the study of the morphological characteristics of particles in granular soil is helpful to understand their physical and mechanical properties,and is conducive to the expansion of the application boundary of particle morphology and the development of related research.This paper mainly studies the three-dimensional mesomorphology of granular soil particles,and selects three typical granular soils particles as the research objects.Three-dimensional morphological information of the particles was obtained using μCT scanning and corresponding image processing methods.In order to generate a more realistic particle surface,the spherical harmonics analysis was used to reconstruct the granular soil particles.The study found that with suitable spherical mesh and reconstruction accuracy,spherical harmonic reconstruction particles with high fitting degree can be obtained.Principal component analysis was carried out on the spherical harmonic coefficients of the particles,and the virtual particle set with the morphological characteristics of the original particles was randomly reconstructed.Furthermore,based on the spherical harmonic reconstruction of particles,a practical calculation method for particle morphological characteristic parameters is proposed,and it is found that the roundness,sphericity and convexity of particles can be used to quantitatively characterize the three-dimensional morphological characteristics.To significantly improve the efficiency of research,this paper has developed a particle morphology analysis platform using the graphical user interface of the mathematical platform MATLAB,and integrated and packaged the commonly used functions.Through a simple human-computer interaction interface of the platform,the functions of granular soil particle reconstruction and morphological characteristic parameter calculation can be realized,and the data can be quickly transferred and exported,which is convenient for subsequent application research.In this paper,the applications research of the particle morphology analysis platform include: the data schema was designed and the granular soil particle database was created,the particle morphology of the granular soil particles were classified,and the numerical simulation of triaxial test was carried out based on the random reconstruction of the granular soil sample of the platform.On the one hand,through the creation of the database and the proposal of the morphological classification standard,it provides convenience for the study of particle morphology.On the other hand,the numerical simulation of triaxial test based on discrete element demonstrated the influence of particle morphology on its macroscopic mechanical behavior.In terms of critical state behavior of particles,the relationship between morphology feature parameters and critical state parameters was quantified,and it was found that the roundness parameter has a great influence on the related discrete element simulations.
