Mengshan region of Shandong Province provides ideal habitat for wild herbs because of its superior ecological environment and special geographical location, which is of great significance to the protection and utilization of wild herbs. In this thesis,55 representative survey sites with different ecological environments were selected to investigate wild herbs resources by field investigation and sample method from 2021 to 2022.On this basis, the types and distribution areas of wild herbs were studied, and the analytic hierarchy process was used to build a scientific evaluation system and evaluate the application value of wild herbs in gardens. The results are as follows:(1)There were abundant wild herbs in this region. There were 477 species in246 genera and 67 families in this survey, including 22 species in 9 families,9 genera and 58 families,237 genera and 455 species in seed plants. There were 6 rare and endangered plants,17 invasive plants and 5 new recorded plants in Mengshan region. The dominant genera in this region were Compositae,Gramineae,Carex,Polygonum,Viola and Artemisia.(2)The main dependent communities of wild herbs in this region were deciduous broad-leaved forest, coniferous forest, alpine shrub and mixed forest. The main groups of deciduous broad-leaved forest were Black Locust and Quercus variabilis. The main species of coniferous forest were Melampyrum roseum and Platycladus orientalis. The main species of alpine shrub were Vitex negundo,Phyllostachys edulis and Phyllostachys glauca.Mixed forest was mainly Quercus acutissima, alopanax septemlobus,Quercus aliena,Robinia pseudoacacia,Populus tomentosa and Quercus acutissima.(3)Except for the world distribution type, the distribution of wild herbs in this region was mainly tropical at the family level, while the distribution of plants was mainly temperate at the subordinate level, which indicates that the flora had obvious tropical affinity and the nature of subtropical to warm temperate transition.(4)The application value evaluation system of wild herbs gardens was established with analytic hierarchy process.120 plants to be evaluated were selected and comprehensively evaluated from three aspects: ornamental value, resource development potential and ecological value.According to the evaluation results, wild herbs were divided into four grades, among which there were 13 species of grade I plants with high comprehensive utilization value,48 species of Grade II wild herbs,45 species of grade III wild herbs, and 14 species of grade IV wild herbs as reserve resources.Based on this,10 plants that could be developed and utilized were recommended.
