In the information times,the data presents complex and multi-dimensional characteristics,and the contradiction between the limited 2D display interface and the complex multi-dimensional data is increasingly prominent.The development of 3D display technologies such as mixed reality,virtual reality and augmented reality provides a wider display space for complex multi-dimensional data.The display and control features in 3D virtual environment such as augmented reality are significantly different from 2D space,and new display spaces and interaction methods will put forward new requirements for visualization.From the perspective of design and ergonomics,this paper considered the node link diagrams as the target object,investigated the display characteristics,control characteristics and the correlation with the real world of node link graph visualization in augmented reality environment.This research combined theoretical analysis,experimental research and case verification to explore the display and interaction characteristics of the graph visualization in augmented reality environment.The main research contents of this paper are listed as follows.(1)The 3D display features of node link graphs in augmented reality environment were explored.Guided by user cognition,and through the multi-factor cognitive experiment,the influence of data complexity,perspective size and graphic space position on visual cognitive task performance was deeply analyzed.The relationship between users’ cognitive style and operation performance was also discussed.(2)The interaction features of node link graphs in augmented reality environment were explored.An ergonomic experiment was conducted to study the interaction characteristics of node link graph visualization in augmented reality environment.Meanwhile,the influence of data complexity,viewing angle and graphic space position on the interaction mode was analyzed.The interaction strategies of different visual attribute of the node link graph were proposed based on the experiment result.(3)With the real data sets of the COVID-19(Corona Virus Disease 2019),a new visualization system combines the 2D and 3D display was developed.It improved the information matching efficiency and reduced people’s cognitive load on complex multidimensional data.Ergonomic experiments were conducted to evaluate the ease of use and usability of the visualization system.This visualization system provides a certain reference for the design of data visualization in augmented reality in the future.
