The Digital Earth platform is a powerful tool for organizing and integrating multidimensional,multi-scale,and multi-layer data with spatiotemporal analytical capabilities, making it highly valuable in the field of geographic data visualization. However, current platforms only offer predefined scene models for users, lacking interactive modeling features, which do not meet the growing demands of different groups such as engineering, scientific research, and the public.Interactive modeling enables users to create and edit models directly within the scene, resulting in a more efficient, intuitive, and specific modeling process.Traditional interactive modeling only supports single-user operation, which can lead to low communication efficiency and flexibility. As internet technology advances, collaborative work-related technologies are becoming more mature.By leveraging these technologies, users can share and collaboratively edit the same model despite being spatiotemporally separated, enhancing communication among teams and improving work efficiency. To address the lack of interactive modeling and collaborative editing features in existing Digital Earth platforms, this paper combines Cesium and CZML to implement interactive modeling for simple entities, and proposes a conflict resolution framework for interactive modeling scenarios. The result is a collaborative interactive modeling system for simple entities based on the Digital Earth platform, which allows team members to fine-tune the same model in different time and space locations, reducing communication costs and improving team collaboration efficiency. The main contributions of this paper are as follows:1.Implementing interactive modeling of simple entities on the Digital Earth platform.By expanding the CZML visualization language according to practical requirements and exploring a consistency maintenance mechanism between the view and underlying files, this paper realizes web-based simple entity interactive modeling and sharing functions.2.Developing multi-user collaborative interactive modeling. This paper investigates concurrent operation conflicts in collaborative interactive modeling scenarios, compatible operational structures and processing algorithms have been designed.A conflict resolution framework has been constructed using a combination of various strategies to maintain data consistency and ensure data ultimately converges to the same state.Suitable conflict resolution strategies have been chosen for different concurrent operation scenarios, and compression algorithms have been used to compress continuous operations. This approach maintains data consistency while maximizing the restoration of user operation intentions, enabling multi-user collaborative interactive modeling functions.3.Designing and launching the "Collaborative Interactive Modeling System based on the Digital Earth Platform" online. This system verifies the consistency between the view layer and data layer in interactive modeling scenarios and the effectiveness of the conflict resolution framework in collaborative editing scenarios, providing support for the development of collaborative interactive modeling technology in the Digital Earth platform field. The main innovations of this paper include:1.Proposing a simple entity interactive modeling scheme based on the Digital Earth platform: By combining the Cesium Digital Earth platform with the CZML visualization language, this paper implements multi-dimensional simple entity interactive modeling and sharing functions on the Web,catering to the needs of various groups.2.Proposing a consistency maintenance framework for collaborative interaction modeling in the context of simple forms: By integrating theories of simple form interaction modeling and collaborative editing. In contrast to existing collaborative editing applications in the field, which employ simplistic strategies to address the issue of multiple users being unable to simultaneously edit the same file due to time constraints, this framework enables real-time collaborative editing among users. The framework employs multiple strategies to construct a conflict resolution framework that maintains the eventual consistency of data while attempting to restore users’ intended operations.Furthermore, the algorithmic structure is compressed to minimize the utilization of network bandwidth resources.
