The ecological management of saline-alkali soil is internationally recognized as a difficult problem. The Songnen Plain, one of the three largest soda-saline-alkali soil distribution areas in the world, has a dry climate and extensive saline-alkali areas, leading to serious ecological degradation and continuous decline in soil fertility, which has become a key constraint to curb green development. If this problem is not addressed in a timely manner,it will lead to an increasingly severe ecological environment. In this study, aiming at Jilin Province, the changes in saline-alkaline soil, the effectiveness of governance work, existing problems, and classified and graded governance measures were studied, and strategies for improving the saline-alkaline soil ecological environment in Jilin Province were proposed. The specific contents are as follows:1.An analysis was conducted on the current status of saline-alkali soil resources in 12 cities, districts, and counties in the western part of Jilin Province, including Taonan City and Taobei District. The area, proportion, and alkalinization level of saline-alkali soil in each administrative region were determined.Subsequently, the causative factors of saline-alkali soil were examined, considering the factors of parent material, topography, climate conditions, groundwater level, and anthropogenic influences.Based on the salt-alkaline status and hazard level of the soil,saline-alkali soil was categorized into three levels of severity, namely mild, moderate, and severe, according to soil p H values, the percentages are 0.86%,90.87%,and 8.27%,respectively.2.The development and planning system of saline-alkali soil in Jilin Province was reviewed and summarized.Despite certain achievements in the ecological management of saline-alkali soil, there are still notable issues that demand attention, the percentages are 7.30%,9.31%,and 73%,respectively.Therefore,from multiple perspectives, critical problems requiring immediate resolution in the process of ecological management of saline-alkali soil were identified.3.Adhering to the principles of ecological priority,land-water correlation,site-specific adaptability, comprehensive consideration, and integrated analysis, the 126,800 hectares of saline-alkali soil in Jilin Province were classified into three categories: natural restoration, engineering restoration, and farmland reclamation. The management direction, objectives, and approaches for each category of saline-alkali soil were specified.4.Finally,comprehensive strategies and recommendations for the ecological management of saline-alkali soil in Jilin Province were elaborated from the perspectives of enacting sound legislation, formulating effective plans, promoting resource conservation and utilization, enhancing water infrastructure, establishing compensation mechanisms, and strengthening monitoring and management. These measures aim to provide substantial support for the management of saline-alkali soil in Jilin Province.
