With the continuous changes in ecological environment, rapid urban expansion, and the shift in people’s awareness towards ecological issues and environmental protection, ecological risk has gradually become a hot topic for scholars both domestically and internationally.Ecological risk assessment has become an effective means and important basis for regional ecological environment restoration, natural resources management, and sustainable development-related work and decision-making.As a key city in the northwest transportation hub and the Silk Road Economic Belt,Lanzhou is also the only provincial capital city through which the Yellow River flows. With the greatly increased speed of Lanzhou’s urban expansion and the drastic changes in land use and land cover, there are also significant changes in the ecological environment. Therefore, conducting a landscape ecological risk assessment study in Lanzhou City has important demonstration significance for promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the entire Yellow River basin. This article will use land use and land cover data from Lanzhou City in 2000,2010,and 2020 to systematically analyze the patterns of land use and land cover changes in Lanzhou City from the perspective of land use transfer direction and spatial distribution.Based on the landscape pattern,a grid will be selected as the evaluation unit to construct an ecological risk assessment index system, analyze the spatial and temporal differentiation of ecological risk, and the impact of land use change on it.Based on the geographic detector model, natural and human factors will be selected to quantitatively analyze the spatial differentiation of landscape ecological risk in Lanzhou City. Finally, based on the landscape ecological risk spatial and temporal pattern and spatial differentiation driving force, ecological security regulation strategies will be proposed for Lanzhou City, adopting various ecological restoration modes and planning ecological security regulation strategies and feasible ecological restoration projects,to provide scientific basis for optimizing the landscape pattern, rational use and development of land resources, and ultimately achieving sustainable development.Rational suggestions and feasible measures will also be proposed for ecological security regulation and landscape ecological risk management. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Land use in Lanzhou city has been dominated by cropland, grassland, and construction land, with a trend of decreasing cropland and increasing construction land.Landscape fragmentation and isolation have increased, especially for cropland and shrubl and.(2)Landscape ecological risk shows a high level in the central and southern parts of the main urban area and a lower level in the northwest. The risk level has gradually increased over time, and there has been significant spatial variation from 2010 to 2020,with a shift from lower-risk areas to higher-risk areas.(3)Annual precipitation is the most significant factor influencing the spatial variation of landscape ecological risk in Lanzhou, explaining 31.5% of the variation. The interaction between two low-explaining factors, annual average temperature and distance to the city center, significantly enhances their explanatory power, with a q value 2.36 times higher than that of the single most significant factor.(4)Based on the spatial distribution of landscape ecological risk,a combination of four ecological restoration methods, including protection and conservation, natural recovery, assisted regeneration, and artificial reshaping,is proposed for landscape ecological risk management and ecological security control in Lanzhou.Different strategies and feasible projects are planned for different risk level zones in key areas of ecological restoration in the main urban area,Yuzhong County,Gaolan County Zhuanglang River Basin, and Qinwangchuan Basin. This provides rational suggestions and proposals for Lanzhou’s landscape ecological risk control and ecological security regulation.
