Under the retailing environment, shelf space-based competition between items with different brands has drawn much attention from practitioners and researchers, the decision for low-temperature stored items on limited shelf spaces are compounding this challenge. With the diversified development of market demand, there are various types and brands of low-temperature dairy items. In this case, the competition for shelf space resources is particularly fierce. In addition, with the growth of personal disposable income, consumers’ attention to low-temperature dairy items has gradually shifted from price to item quality and shelf life quality. Therefore, this thesis takes low-temperature dairy items as the entry point and focuses on the shelf operation of dairy items in supermarkets. In order to maximize the total profit of supermarket shelves, the decision models of dairy items shelf replenishment and display space partition under different replenishment modes are constructed. The main research contents are as follows:Firstly, this thesis discusses the difference between customers’ perception of shelf life quality of dairy items and the actual remaining shelf life.According to the influence of the remaining shelf life on customer demand, the customers purchasing expectation on the last shelf-life of an item is introduced to divide the demand stage, and a two-stage demand function is described to reflect the real demand of items. In addition, shelves with different heights have different sales potential,so this thesis tries to make an integrated decision dividing the shelf display space partition based on profit weight disparities in different heights, and the total profit of the shelves can be maximized by pricing items in different partitions. In addition, two common shelf replenishment modes are compared and analyzed. Therefore, this thesis constructs two decision models. One of dairy items with shelf profit space partition assignment and backroom replenishment. The another of dairy items with shelf profit space partition assignment based on external warehouse shelf replenishment.Secondly, the solution of SPSPA-BRE and SPSPA model takes total profit maximization as the objective function.A hybrid algorithm combining firefly and particle swarm optimization algorithm(HFPSO)was introduced to solve the problem, and the initial opportunity cost of items was introduced to generate the initial items allocation scheme. Finally,MATLAB software was used for solving and numerical experiments. The solution results show that HFPSO has a better solution effect for the two models, and the initial opportunity cost introduced is feasible as the initial allocation scheme. The following management implications are obtained:(1)The four sales characteristics of shelf space elasticity index, item demand, item price and item price sensitivity index should be paid attention to when items are allocated shelf space and partition.Items with high unit profit are not necessarily displayed in the optimal profit partition.(2)The item brands on the shelves should not be too much, and items with different brands should be displayed as many as possible on the best partition to maximize the profits. The supermarket can choose the replenishment mode according to the scale of the products sold in the store.(3)The experiment shows that the shelves replenishment mode of external warehouse is more profitable when the item brand is appropriate.
