Short wavelength fiber lasers from 1000 nm to 1020 nm can be used in pumping fiber laser,second harmonic generation,and optical parametric oscillation.Focusing on the difficulties of short wavelength pulsed ytterbium doped fiber laser,the suppression of amplified spontaneous emission(ASE)and the suppression of nonlinear effects.A high-power 1016 nm narrow-linewidth linearly-polarized pulsed fiber laser is demonstrated experimentally,and its application is researched.The specific research contents and main results of this paper are as follows:1.We proposed a scheme of core pumped large mode area double cladding fiber amplifier,accompany with narrow-band filter and highly doped fiber to suppress ASE and spectral broadening.The feasibility of the scheme is verified by experiments.A linearly polarized 1016 nm pulsed laser with an output power of 1.23 W,a linewidth of0.11 nm and an ASE suppression ratio of 62 d B above 1020 nm was obtained.2.By using 20/125μm polarization maintaining highly Yb doped double cladding fiber amplifier to amplify the watt-level 1016 nm pulsed laser,a 1016 nm all fiber linearly polarized pulsed laser with average power of 48.6 W,peak power of about 18k W and 3 d B linewidth of 0.28 nm is developed,which is the highest power of linearly polarized pulsed ytterbium doped fiber laser below 1020 nm.The repetition rate of the laser is 23.95 MHz.The pulse width is about 0.1 ns.The ASE suppression ratio above1020 nm is 58 d B.The polarization extinction ratio is about 18 d B.The beam diffraction magnification factor M~2 is about 1.2.3.The 1016 nm pulsed laser is frequency doubled by a lithium borate(LBO)crystal to 508 nm green pulsed laser with average power of 25.8 W,peak power of about 9 k W,3 d B linewidth of 0.26 nm and M~2 of 1.2.The frequency doubling efficiency is as high as 53%.Pure visible watt-level wide spectrum light source is obtained by pumping passive fibers with the green pulsed laser.
