With the improvement of living standards, people are paying increasing attention to indoor air quality.Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs)are one of the main pollutants in indoor air, attracting a great deal of public attention.Laminated flooring, also known as impregnated paper laminated wood flooring, has become increasingly popular among consumers in recent years due to its richer colors and textures, wear resistance, durability, easy maintenance, and sustainable production. However, compared to solid wood flooring, laminated flooring uses more adhesives in its production process, resulting in more VOC emissions. Therefore, studying the VOC emission patterns of laminated flooring and their impact on indoor environments is of great significance. This paper takes the Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring produced by a factory in Heilongjiang Province as the object of study, explores its VOCs release law,and finally establishes the Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring VOCs release model. It is summarized as follows.(1)The Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring VOCs were collected by the 1 m3 climatic chamber method and analysed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry/odor(GC-MS/O)techniques to investigate their release patterns under standard environmental conditions.Under standard environmental conditions, the release rate of TVOCs from the Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring decreased with time, and the rate decreased most rapidly from 1 to 3 d.The release rate decreased gradually at 14 d and reached equilibrium at 28 d.The types of VOCs released from this Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring are aromatic, alkanes, aldehydes and ketones, esters, alkenes and alcohols. At the beginning of the release period, the main components of the released VOCs are aromatic, alkanes and alkenes, and after the release equilibrium, the main components of the VOCs are alkanes and aldehydes and ketones.(2)Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring VOCs released after the balance of VOCs components have 12 kinds, most of which originate from the four layers of materials in the substrate layer, and the balance layer release the least variety, therefore,in reducing the Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring VOCs release types, should focus on considering the substrate layer. In the four layers of Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring, the largest amount of VOCs is released from the wear layer, followed by the decorative layer, and the balance layer has the smallest amount of VOCs released,so when reducing the amount of Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring released, the wear layer, the decorative layer and the substrate layer should be the main consideration.Among the VOCs released from Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring, the main pollutants include aldehydes and ketones, benzene, toluene, xylene and naphthalene.Except for the naphthalene content released at 3 d,which exceeds the Class I standard in LY/T 3230—2020,all other components meet the Class I standard within 1 cycle.According to LY/T 3229—2020,the comprehensive index of VOCs of Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring within 1 cycle was calculated and the indoor air quality was classified, and it was concluded that this Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring complied with Class I standard except for the air quality Class II standard at 3 d.The air quality was excellent. The impact of VOCs on indoor air quality of the Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring gradually decreases with time, and after the VOCs are released in equilibrium, consumers can use it with confidence.(3)The Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring VOCs were collected by rapid detection method and the gas was analysed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)to analyse the relationship between environmental conditions and Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring TVOC emissions,to investigate the optimal environmental conditions for rapid release detection and to provide data support for the VOCs release prediction model. The curves of TVOC emissions from Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring with time were similar for different environmental conditions, all decreasing with time, but the TVOC emissions and the time to reach release equilibrium were different:the higher the temperature, the higher the relative humidity and the lower the air exchange rate, the greater the TVOC emissions;increasing the temperature had a significant effect on shortening the time to release equilibrium from Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring VOCs.The rapid test method selects ambient condition 13,where the equilibrium time is the shortest and the TVOC emission decreases the most compared to the initial state, with the rapid test method the test period can be shortened from 28 d to 13 d,making the test period much shorter. The rapid test method and the 1 m3 climate chamber method measured the same types of Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring VOCs,but the mass concentrations of each type of VOCs were different, which was caused by the different testing environmental conditions. The trend in TVOC emissions from Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring is the same for both testing methods, with different equilibration times, but the difference in TVOC emissions at equilibration is not significant. The reason for the different TVOC emissions is that the test conditions of the two testing methods are different, mainly because of the greater influence of temperature on the release of VOCs.(4)By analysing and studying various modelling methods,a model applicable to the prediction of VOCs release from Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring was designed, and the model was implemented and validated. The VOCs release of Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring varies continuously with time, and the exponential function—"first-order exponential decay model"is chosen to fit.The first-order exponential decay model was implemented in Python, with the independent variable being time, denoted as t,and the dependent variable being laminate TVOC emissions, denoted as Y.The first-order exponential decay model was Y=ae-t/b+c.It was verified that the predicted values were close(4(4=266.00670)0)-/5.0514+34.3931.The study shows that the rapid test method correlates well with the 1 m3 climate chamber method,so in combination with the rapid test VOCs release model,it is possible to calculate the TVOC release from the rapid test method for a given time and predict the 1 m3 climate chamber method for the corresponding release phase.TVOC release.A Impregnated paper laminated wood flooring TVOC emission prediction system has been designed and implemented, which is simple to operate and presents the prediction results in a more intuitive way.
