A Study Of Costume Design In The Characterization Of Film Characters

As an indispensable component of the film picture and an important link to judge the quality of a film,the film costume plays an important role in the film creation with its unique aesthetic value and practical significance.As one of the dimensions to measure the quality of film output,excellent costume design not only needs to make the picture harmonious and unified to bring aesthetic enjoyment to the audience;It also requires the ability to create different concrete characters,so that the characters can be transformed from the abstract concept of the story to the visual sense of the audience can recognize the concrete content.It is the purpose and significance of costume design in movie character building to design costume works that complement character setting.Based on literature and interdisciplinary research method,and based on the principles of sociology and psychology within the discipline of fashion design,this paper makes a systematic analysis of role theory,role building and other related contents.Through the comparison analysis of the different degrees and focuses of the winning films of the "Best Costume Design Award of the Academy Awards" from 2011 to 2022,the demand of character shaping in excellent film costume design cases and its effects are comprehensively analyzed.Finally,a closed loop of theory--case--theory--practice is formed through the practical application of my works.The main innovation of this paper is to use the role classification method in sociology to analyze the needs of character building in movies,and through the specific analysis of the needs of character building to bring new thinking methods for costume design,so as to provide useful content for the in-depth study of costume design methods.
