As global economic integration and the internationalization of corporate management steadily advance, the ranks of expatriates in multinational corporations continue to grow and flourish. The provision of scientifically efficient training for these expatriates and the continuous optimization of the training system play an indispensable role in implementing overseas business strategies, enhancing the company’s core competitiveness, and elevating the level of international management. After its shareholding reform,Baiyin Nonferrous Metals Group Co.,Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as Baiyin Group)has sought to elevate its resource security level, address the resource bottlenecks that constrain its development, actively implement Gansu Province’s "strong industrial province" strategic deployment, adhere to the fundamental principles of focusing on surrounding areas, radiating domestically, and looking globally, and vigorously implement its international business strategy of "resource leadership and global expansion." This has enabled Baiyin Group to integrate superior resources in overseas markets and achieve complementary domestic and international advantages, successively launching successful overseas mineral resource acquisitions and development in countries such as South Africa and Peru, and forming a stable team of expatriates, making significant contributions to the company’s transformational development and management upgrade. In recent years, through its continuous exploration and practice in overseas operations,Baiyin Group has profoundly recognized the paramount importance of enhancing the training level of expatriates and continuously optimizing the training system to cultivate a high-quality talent pool for overseas operations.Only by grasping this core competitiveness can the company participate in international competition and seize the initiative in the global allocation of resources. This paper focuses on the training system for Baiyin Group’s expatriate personnel, integrating human resource training system materials from the company’s production, construction, and management sectors, and analyzing the existing training system through interviews and surveys of expatriate staff at different levels. The research identifies several issues, including slow updates to training content and formats, insufficient emphasis on training by senior management, unscientific and ineffective training needs assessments,a lack of necessary cross-cultural training, unclear career development paths for expatriates, and ambiguous repatriation arrangements. The study proposes eight targeted optimization measures: establishing and refining a dynamic training needs assessment system, prioritizing core requirements for key expatriate positions, developing diversified training programs, increasing necessary cross-cultural training, enhancing training evaluation methods, encouraging and supporting the professional advancement of expatriate personnel, properly arranging repatriation, and continuously promoting and strengthening the internal trainer system.Additionally, the study suggests three safeguard measures: increasing senior management’s emphasis on training, strengthening the organizational structure of training centers, and further increasing investment in training.Through these systematic and institutionalized optimizations, the study aims to elevate the training management standards for expatriate personnel, bolster the company’s international business management talent pool, and contribute to the high-quality development and enhanced core competitiveness of Baiyin Group.
