In 2020,when the global environment and climate are deteriorating,China first proposed the "30.60" strategic vision of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality",marking that my country’s economy has gradually entered a green and low-carbon development model. The green economy and low-carbon economy are currently in their infancy, with huge market potential and funding gaps. The financial industry has the opportunity and the obligation to give comprehensive financial support to the green economy.Acting as the core of the financial industry, commercial banks play a leverage role in allocating capital.Under the vision of the "dual carbon" goal, green credit will play a lasting supporting role in my country’s green economy and low-carbon economy.Relying on this background, from the perspective of commercial banks, this paper takes the beneficial feedback of credit risk as the basis, and takes the necessity and feasibility as the foothold to conduct an in-depth study on the development of green credit.Firstly, this thesis establishes the background and significance of the topic selection, based on literature research,it makes an overall analysis of research ideas and research methods.Secondly,it provides a summary of the concepts of green credit and credit risk, and expounds the important theoretical basis, such as the "dual carbon" strategy and the concept of green development, the Equator Principle and management theory involving asset risk and environmental risk. Then, closely follow the development status of green credit and credit risk, and discusses more on its existing problems.Based on the previous three chapters, this paper qualitatively analyzes the potential impact of green credit on the credit risk of commercial banks, hypotheses on the research, and focuses on the empirical process of impact analysis: that is,take2011-2020 in the past ten years,21 major commercial banks as the data sources to carry out regression analysis process. The results show that green credit acts on the credit risk of commercial banks with negative impact as a whole.A detailed study shows that this impact has a nonlinear, that is,an inverted U-shaped relationship.Early on the stage of green credit,it will promote credit risk to a certain extent.Afterwards,it began to exert a dampening effect, and the effect differs among banks. Finally,it is considered necessary for commercial banks to develop green credit, and from different perspectives of banks, enterprises and governments, specific suggestions for developing green credit business are put forward.
