With the acceleration of urbanization and the development of economy and society in China, cultivated land has been continuously reduced, and the sustainable utilization of limited cultivated land resources, food security and ecological security have been seriously threatened. To reduce the environmental cost of cultivated land utilization in order to realize its sustainable use of cultivated land has attracted great attention from the academic circle and the government. In this study,we first established an index system of the eco-efficiency cultivated land use that took into account both carbon sink and carbon emission, used the Super-SBM model to measure the eco-efficiency of cultivated land use,and described the spatial-temporal pattern of the eco-efficiency of cultivated land use through the coefficient of variation, trend surface analysis and hot spot analysis. Finally,we used the geographical detector to identify and explore the driving factors of the eco-efficiency of cultivated land use.In order to improve the ecoefficiency cultivated land use in Hexi Corridor and reduce the ecological imbalance between regions to provide theoretical support. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)the eco-efficiency cultivated land use in the Hexi Corridor was generally at a low to medium level of development during the study period, indicating that the harmonious development of cultivated land utilization and ecological environmental protection has a long way to go.From a temporal perspective, from 2005 to 2020,the eco-efficiency cultivated land use in the Hexi Corridor has increased significantly, showing obvious stages of slow and significant growth, while the coefficient of variation has shown a trend of increasing and then decreasing, reflecting the tendency for the eco-efficiency cultivated land use in the region to evolve towards balanced development. From the perspective of the three major river basins, the eco-efficiency cultivated land use is "higher in the Heihe River Basin than in the Shiyang River Basin and higher in the Shule River Basin",with the Heihe River Basin showing fluctuating growth, the Shiyang River Basin showing a similar trend to the overall evolution of efficiency, and the Shule River showing a steady decline and then a slow rise. From different districts and counties, the eco-efficiency cultivated land use has increased, but the evolution of the development varies significantly, and the evolution of the ecoefficiency cultivated land use in different counties can be divided into significant growth, slow growth and decreasing followed by increasing.(2)The spatial heterogeneity of the eco-efficiency cultivated land use in the Hexi Corridor is remarkable, with the number of high-efficiency zones gradually increasing and the number of low-efficiency zones gradually decreasing, and the degree of spatial equilibrium in the development of the eco-efficiency cultivated land use is enhanced. The high-efficiency areas are mainly distributed in the oasis agricultural areas of the Heihe and Shiyang River basins, while the low-efficiency areas are mainly distributed in the Shule River basin. The overall spatial distribution shows the spatial evolutionary characteristics of "higher in the central part than in the southeast than in the northwest".From the perspective of spatial agglomeration, the evolution of hotspot areas of the eco-efficiency cultivated land use in Hexi Corridor shows a relatively stable trend, with time, the number of hotspot areas of the eco-efficiency cultivated land use shows an "increase-decrease" trend, and the number of coldspot areas shows a "decrease-increase" trend. The trend is that the core areas of the eco-efficiency cultivated land use in the Hexi Corridor are expanding and then shrinking, while the peripheral areas are shrinking and then expanding.(3)In terms of the driving factors, overall, the degree of influence of each dimensional factor on the distribution of the eco-efficiency cultivated land use is shown as agricultural production conditions > agricultural technology development > regional economic development level > cropland management subject > landscape pattern. In terms of the temporal changes of each dimensional factor, the q-values were significantly different. In 2005 and 2010,the spatial variation of the eco-efficiency cultivated land use was mainly influenced by agricultural production conditions, agricultural technology development, and cropland management subjects;in 2015 and 2020,it was greatly influenced by cropland management subjects, regional economic development level, and landscape pattern. In terms of interaction, the interaction pattern contains the two-factor enhancement and the nonlinear enhancement. The nonlinear enhancement among indicators is dominant in the spatial heterogeneity of the eco-efficiency cultivated land use.The spatial heterogeneity of the ecoefficiency cultivated land use in Hexi Corridor is the result of the combined effect of multiple factors, and the interaction between agricultural production conditions, landscape pattern and other factors has a significant tendency to enhance the explanatory power of the spatial heterogeneity of the eco-efficiency cultivated land use over time.
