Research On The Motivation And Effect Of Enterprises Issuing Blue Bond

Protecting the ecological environment and developing a sustainable marine economy has become a common concern of all countries in the world,based on the strong carbon sequestration capacity of the ocean,China vigorously develops the blue economy related to the marine industry,and then launches an innovative variety of green bonds-blue bonds,compared with other green bond varieties,its funds are more focused on the "blue field",such as desalination,offshore wind power,green fishery and comprehensive improvement of sea areas.Blue bonds are a response to China’s development of blue finance,which has the advantages of direct financing support,price discovery mechanism,and optimal allocation of resources,and can direct more capital to the marine field.This article selects the "21 Guodian GN004A(Blue Bond)" issued by Guodian Power,which is one of the first blue bonds in China,as a case study.This article first provides a brief analysis of the development of China’s blue bond market,followed by a review of Guodian Power’s financing situation.Then,by providing a detailed understanding of the entire process of Guodian Power’s issuance of this issue of blue bonds,guided by the use of raised funds,it attempts to analyze the motivation and effect of Guodian Power’s issuance of bonds.This study suggests that the motivation for Guodian Power to issue blue bonds is mainly divided into two aspects: external and internal: external motivation focuses on the needs of business transformation and development,assists in the development of the blue bond market and shapes a green image,caters to investor preferences,and internal motivation focuses on reducing corporate financing costs,meeting project construction needs,and optimizing debt structure.Then,based on motivation analysis,study the effects of the blue bond on Guodian Power’s stock price,finance,society,environment,and other aspects.Finally,it is concluded that the issuance of blue bonds by Guodian Power has a demonstrative effect and assists in the transformation of power enterprises.At the same time,this article’s research on blue bonds is different from previous macro perspectives,but focuses on specific issuance case perspectives.It proposes relevant suggestions for enterprises,regulators,and the market.It is hoped that through this article’s research,it can provide some practical case references for the future development of blue bonds in China,thereby promoting the rapid and stable development of the blue bond market.
