With the popularity of bike-sharing and the growing and diversified demand for urban micromobility,a new development trend is emerging in the mobile product service system represented by bike-sharing in the urban micromobility context,thus inspiring bike-sharing and related industries to actively explore new development directions.At present,the design and development of shared bikes and related research are still mainly driven by solving the current problems,with incremental innovation,mainly focusing on ‘demand,function and form’,and failing to fully reflect the innovatiin requirements of shared bikes in the micromobility context.Therefore,this design study attempts to introduce the ViP design approach in the design of shared bikes.It is a future-oriented design-driven innovation method that can bring new meaning to the product,complement the existing shared bike innovation model,and help designers explore the meaning and value of future shared bike design and guide the innovation design of shared bikes.This paper first explores the ViP design approach and related theories and practices,clarifies the applicability and significance of the ViP design approach in the design of shared bikes,and constructs a shared bike design process based on the ViP design approach,which is divided into ‘deconstruction’,‘vision’ and ‘design’.In the ‘deconstruction’,the existing bike sharing products were deconstructed from three levels: ‘product-interaction-context’ through observation,user interviews and desktop research,and the product characteristics,interaction qualities and context factors of the existing bike sharing products were identified respectively.In the ‘vision’,the collected context factors are clustered and analyzed to build a "embrace diversity" future context for the shared bike,and a design statement for the new context is proposed,and the interaction and product characteristics of the new shared bike for the future context are sequentially output from the three levels of "context-interaction-product".In the final design process,after the design strategy and design definition are transformed and verified,the final product design solution is output through solution refinement.The design plan built a new shared bike product system consisting of "shared bike,smart phone,and accessory module",which allows users to freely match the accessory module to the shared bike according to their diverse needs in a modular way,and to obtain a new riding experience with personalized accessory management and intelligent display of riding information.The system is modular and allows users to freely mix and match accessory modules according to their diverse needs.At the same time,the design solution can also generate lifestyle tags that match the user’s scenarios and accessory modules,providing users with social connections based on the same tags,thus exploring new connections and interactions between ‘people,bikes,and the environment’.In summary,this paper hopes to explore the design innovation paths based on the future context for bike sharing design beyond functional innovation.
