As the city is gradually expanding, single center spatial structure will lead to traffic congestion, reduced economic efficiency and other problems. Some new cities need to undertake the role of the central city. The single center model gradually can not explain the development status of the city.It is necessary to gradually transition the urban structure from a single center to a multi center structure.Polycentric spatial structure not only includes the agglomeration externalities of scale effect and cost advantage brought by agglomeration economy, but also includes the network externalities of industrial division and functional differentiation brought by city-network.However,the role of the superposition of these two externalities in narrowing the income gap under the multi center network has not been verified.Under the background of regional imbalance and overburden of large cities in China’s economic development,it is necessary to clarify the impact of spatial structure on narrowing the regional economic gap,and find specific ways to alleviate the economic imbalance caused by the inconsistent pace of urban development. This paper uses the data of cities above prefecture level cities as a sample(the sample period is 2005-2019,a total of 108 sample cities),and discusses the impact of the regional spatial structure of the Yangtze River Economic Belt on the coordinated economic development. In the empirical model, the spatial weight matrix is used to represent the spatial relationship of cities, the city node centrality index is used to represent the status of cities in the network, and the spatial Dobbin model is used for regression test.In terms of innovation, this paper links the determination of the characteristics of spatial structure with the influencing factors of the coordinated development of regional economy, and explores the impact of urban structure on the coordinated development of regional economy from the perspective of spatial characteristics; In the measurement of multi centrality, most of the past used simple methods such as scale order method to measure the overall centrality of the region. This paper combines the social network analysis method and uses the modified gravity model and degree centrality method to measure the central position of the city in the network;Considering that the explained variables may have significant spatial autocorrelation, the spatial econometric model is used instead of simple linear regression. The results show that:(1)after controlling the factors such as government expenditure and material capital, there is a significant spatial correlation between the relative income level. This positive relationship is not only between the geographically adjacent cities, but also between the economically adjacent cities.(2)The improvement of urban node centrality can help cities form agglomeration effect, use rich factor resources and scale effect to drive economic growth and improve local growth efficiency.(3)The enhancement of the centrality of urban nodes in the network can not only drive the economic growth of the city through the agglomeration effect, but also narrow the income gap in the region through the diffusion effect of geographical or economic network. The superposition of these two effects can alleviate the imbalance of regional development.(4)Both large cities and small and medium-sized cities are affected by the centrality of nodes in urban network relations, but the effect is not consistent.Large cities can obtain the economic benefits of agglomeration effect by improving the centrality of urban nodes. However, small and medium-sized cities are facing competition similar to cities, and their agglomeration effect is not significant.(5)The improvement of node centrality in eastern cities can help them establish agglomeration effect and absorb factor resources, but central and western cities have great disadvantages in factor absorption in urban network,so the improvement of node centrality will lead to resource outflow and have a negative direct effect on the income level of cities.(6)The degree of urban central node will significantly affect factor flow, industrial competition and knowledge spillover. However, from the perspective of action path, urban multi center spatial structure directly affects the relative income level of cities through factor flow and industrial coupling competition, and uses spillover effect to improve the income level of other cities in the network.
