With the rapid development of digital economy industry and data communication technology,Internet data centers(IDCs)have been widely employed to finish the task of data processing,communication and storage.The expansion of the number of IDCs has led to a dramatical increasement of power consumption.IDCs are with the significant potential to regulate the energy consuming.Through adjusting the spatiotemporal distribution of workload,the energy efficiency of IDCs can be greatly improved.Considering the adjustable characteristics of workload,this thesis proposed the power supply method of IDCs based on flexible substation(FS)to improve the operational economy and flexibility.The main contributions are summarized as follows:1)The typical electrical equipment model of IDCs is established.First,according to the analysis of operational characteristics of IT equipment,the power consumption model of IDCs based on the technology of dynamic voltage and frequency scaling(DVFS)is formulated.Then,considering the multi-port topology and modular design of FS,the relationship of power balance is introduced to describe the power conversion.2)The optimal operation method for minimizing power consumption of data centers with flexible substation integration is proposed.As for workload with different delaytolerant time limits,the spatially and temporally dispatch strategies are introduced to realize the redistribution of workload.Further considering the integration of FS,the economic operation model of data centers is proposed.With the interconnection capabilities of FS,the photovoltaics station and energy storage system are integrated to reduce the operation cost of IDCs.3)The robust operation strategies of data centers with workload uncertainties are proposed.Through adopting the clustering method,the typical scenarios of IDCs can be obtained with the consideration of workload uncertainties.The proposed distributionally robust optimization(DRO)model can be solved by column-andconstraint generation(C&CG)method.The results show that the DRO strategies of IDCs are robust and less conservative,which can effectively reduce the workload dropping cost and improve the operational economy.4)The operational flexibility improvement method of data centers considering the regulation potential of workload is proposed.With the spatio-temporal dispatch capabilities of workload and coordination of FS,the operational flexibility improvement model of IDCs is established.Through regulating the energy consuming of data centers,the feeder load unbalance and nodal voltage fluctuation are effectively reduced to enhance the operating states of distribution networks.
