Modern trams have a broad development prospect in the mountainous tourist areas because of their convenience, beauty, comfort and energy conservation features, which are in line with the transportation needs of the mountainous tourist areas.Compared to conventional urban rail lines, mountain tourist area line traffic sources are mainly tourists, the purpose of their travel is mostly sightseeing, the line curve radius is small, the slope is large, the ecological environment is fragile, environmental protection requirements are high. Each of these features places different requirements on the selection of vehicles that affect the development of the entire line. However,China has not yet issued relevant standards and specifications specifically for the selection of vehicles on mountain tourism routes, lacking reference basis. In addition, when trams operate on complex routes in mountainous areas,it is necessary to consider energy conservation and environmental protection issues in tourist areas while ensuring passengers’ riding experience, making vehicle operation energy consumption and passenger comfort indicators particularly important. Therefore, for the sustainable development of trams in mountainous tourist areas,it is necessary to carry out research on vehicle selection and operation optimization based on energy consumption and comfort. The specific research results are as follows.(1)This paper analyzes the traffic characteristics of the mountainous tourist area and compares the characteristics of trams with other rail transportation systems;the application mode and typical application cases of trams in the mountainous tourist area is summarized and the functional positioning of trams in the mountainous tourist area is clarified. Moreover, the influence of the characteristics of the mountainous tourist area on vehicle selection and operation is analyzed, and lays the research foundation for the following tram vehicle selection and operation optimization.(2)In view of the existing research is mainly focused on the determination of urban rail transit vehicle type, and the relevant research considers a single factor and so on.From the idea of basic selection and characteristic selection of trams in mountainous tourist areas, the principles of vehicle selection for trams in mountainous tourist areas are summarized;around the characteristics of mountainous tourist areas,in addition to the basic vehicle type selection, the matching of vehicle selection with operation demand and line conditions is also systematically analyzed.(3)Considering that trams need to focus on the issues of vehicle operation energy consumption and comfort index when operating on complex lines in mountainous areas. The factors influencing the energy consumption of tram operation in mountainous tourist areas were analyzed through simulation experiments. In order to reduce the energy consumption of vehicle operation while ensuring passenger comfort, this paper optimizes the speed trajectory of tram operation. The interval of tram operation is discretized, and the tram operation speed trajectory optimization model based on the discrete space method is constructed with the objective of minimizing energy consumption and adding comfort constraints. Two experiments were designed to optimize the speed trajectories of trams under different stopping schemes and different speed limits, using the entire line in the mountainous tourist area and the long ramp section of the line as the experimental objects respectively. In this paper,we use the reconstruction method to linearize the nonlinear terms in the optimization model and reconstruct to obtain the Mixed Integer Non-linear Programming model and the CPLEX optimization solver based on branch definition method is applied to solve the model, which reduces the difficulty of solving the model.(4)This paper analyzes the traffic characteristics of the line of the first phase of the comprehensive rail transit project(Line 1)in Lijiang City as well as the operation mode and functional positioning of the tram, and clarifies that the line has obvious characteristics of a mountainous tourist area. The recommended results of vehicle selection for the line are obtained by comparison analysis and simulation.Through simulation experiments and CPLEX optimization solver, speed trajectories and optimized index values for tram operation optimization under different stopping schemes and different speed limits in the long ramp section of the line were solved. The experimental results show that the optimization model established in this paper can effectively reduce the energy consumption of tram operation. In addition, based on the optimization results, the line transportation organization mode and the speed limit conditions for long ramps are recommended considering energy consumption and comfort.
