The Oujiang River Basin is located in the southern part of Zhejiang Province, with a large span, complex terrain and profound historical and cultural heritage. The site conditions and development level of individual villages in different regions vary greatly, which also endows the traditional villages in the basin with diverse village spaces and landscapes. However, with the rapid transformation of China’s agricultural civilization to industrial civilization, the spatial structure and landscape characteristics of traditional villages in the river basin have been impacted, and the contradiction between traditional village protection and modern development has become increasingly prominent. This paper uses Arc GIS spatial analysis,K-means clustering, spatial syntax and other methods to explore and cluster the spatial characteristics of the traditional villages in the Oujiang River basin from the macro and micro dimensions, and on this basis, puts forward the protection and development strategies of the traditional villages in the Oujiang River basin. The main results are:On the macro scale,(1)The traditional villages in the Oujiang River Basin present a significant aggregation distribution pattern, and form a spatial pattern of "dual-core" distribution in the northwest and southwest.(2)The site selection and layout characteristics of traditional villages in the Oujiang River Basin reflect the local livability. The villages are mainly distributed in hilly and platform areas with moderate altitudes, and the distance from the river is moderate..It also reflects that the Oujiang River Basin has not found an effective path for the coordinated development of urban and rural areas, making economic advantages an obstacle to the survival of traditional villages.(3)According to the characteristics of village site selection and layout, the traditional villages in the Oujiang River Basin were divided into five clusters: the convenient and water-friendly type in the suburbs, the remote and backward type in the suburbs, the remote and developed type in the suburbs, the remote and distant water type in the outer suburbs, and the steep slope type in the outer suburbs.(4)Put forward two traditional village planning strategies: "Regional Links: Constructing Diversified Boutique Routes for Traditional Villages" and "Different Development: Promoting Differentiated Integration and Renewal of Various Villages".On the medium and micro scales,(1)Combining field surveys and comparisons with satellite images, the types and characteristics of traditional villages in the Oujiang River Basin are classified and characterized from two levels of plane texture and vertical structure, and the traditional villages in the Oujiang River Basin are classified according to the results of the two levels. The villages are divided into 11 types: flat land group shape, flat land shape, valley radial dot shape, valley belt shape, valley land cluster shape, valley surface shape, slope spot shape, slope land radial point shape, slope land belt shape, slope land cluster shape, and slope land shape..(2)Using the parameters of connectivity, integration, selectability, and intelligibility in space syntax, select samples to study the internal spatial characteristics of 11 types of traditional villages in spatial form, and summarize the main roads of different types of traditional villages The distribution characteristics of the axes.(3)Put forward the traditional village planning strategy of "layered planning: control the key development of the core area of individual villages" and "activate the overall situation: promote the creation of authentic landscapes in the village space".
