The spectrum analyzer plays a crucial role in analyzing signals across different frequencies.It finds wide application in the research,production,and testing of electronic products,often being referred to as the RF multimeter for engineers.However,the utilization of spectrum analyzers in current university-level microwave education is limited,and many universities lack the essential equipment.The primary factor contributing to this issue is the high cost associated with spectrum analyzers.Furthermore,their bulky nature makes it inconvenient for students to carry and utilize them effectively.Consequently,developing an affordable and portable spectrum analyzer that meets the regular teaching requirements in universities holds immense practical significance.This article utilizes the Xilinx Zynq-7020 development board as the microprocessor for the entire system.It employs a low intermediate frequency(IF)receiver scheme to capture input signals and designs human-machine interaction application software using the cross-platform development environment,QT Creator.The article introduces the purposes of each module in the low IF receiver and peripheral circuit design,providing detailed explanations of considerations for Printed Circuit Board(PCB)design and presenting the PCB design diagram for the receiver.It also describes the software design of the entire system,including data processing in the RF link,the control flow of the entire system,and the design of the host computer software.Finally,the functionality of each module and the overall system is tested and validated to ensure correctness and reliability.The article offers analysis and solutions for identified shortcomings,concluding with a summary of the entire system design and prospects for future expandable features and optimization possibilities.The portable spectrum analyzer designed in this paper offers a lower cost compared to mature products from various manufacturers in the market,while maintaining excellent portability.It is highly suitable for extensive implementation in university teaching.In comparison to other portable spectrum analyzer solutions available online,this system provides a broader measurement range and faster measurement speed.Additionally,the RF receiver of this system is built using discrete components,maximizing system performance and facilitating a better understanding of the principles underlying the receiver’s various functional modules in educational environments.Furthermore,the system incorporates multiple functional interfaces and debugging interfaces,catering to users’ needs for expanding functionality and debugging code.These advantages promote widespread adoption of this system in universities and fulfill the measurement requirements of the majority of signals.
