Investigation Of Tachinidae Resources In The Alpine Grasslands Of The Eastern Edge Of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,china And Study On Biology(Behavior) Of Tachinid Flies Parasitic On Gynaephora Caterpillars

This study investigated the tachinid flies(Diptera: Tachinidae)diversity in the alpine meadow of Aba Sichuan province,Maqu Gansu province,and explored the interactions between tachinid flies with the host grassland caterpillars.Mainly,two fields in species diversity of tachinid flies in eastern edge of Qinghai-Tibetan plateau and behavioral ecology of tachinid fly and host grassland caterpillars we found:1.Total 917 tachinid fly speciemens collected were examined and classified as 50 species in 14 tribles,37 genera in Dexiinae(12 species),Exoristinae(19 species),Phasiinae(4 species)and Tachininae(13 species).Two species of Tachinidae were recognized and found as new to science,i.e.,Drino hongyuanensis sp.nov.,Lydella gannanensis sp.nov.Their exterminal morphorlogical descriptions and diagnostic figures and photos of heads,bodies and male terminalis and distribution information are provided here.Catharosia claripennis Kugler,1977 was recognized as a newly recorded species for China.And 22 newly recorded species from Gansu Province and7 from Sichuan Province.2.We totally found five tachinid flies hosted on Gynaephora caterpillars,i.e.,Gymnophryxe inconspicua,G.modesta,Everestiomyia antennalis,Exorista(s.str.)fasciata and E.larvarum.3.E.larvarum are dominant tachinid flies hosted by G.spp.in the alpine meadow of Maqu in June to September.The parasitism rate is positively correlated to the host caterpillar density.Heads are the most susceptible area for tachinid flies to lay eggs.4.Only one parsitoid successfully developed in single host,however,we found 1to 13 tachinid fly eggs on caterpillars’ body surface.In years with high parasitic rates within a specific region,51% of the parasitized caterpillars have two or more eggs.Rate of superparasitism is positively correlated with parasitism rate.
