With the development of economy and the growth of population, people’s demand for food is gradually but substantially increasing.Hence, the issue of agricultural production and food security has received more attention world widely. As the main carrier of food production, cultivated land plays a very important role. However, problems such as shortage of cultivated land, cultivated land degradation, soil pollution and declining land utilization rate are becoming increasingly serious in recent years, which can negatively affect the quality of cultivated land and food security. Therefore, scientific understanding the cultivated land fertility is the premise of ensuring food security and improving the quality of cultivated land, and it is also of great significance for the coordinated and sustainable development of cultivated land and ecological environment. In this research,Sui county was selected as the study region for evaluation of cultivated land fertility.Field survey was undertaken,Soils were sampled.p H value, organic matter content and available phosphorus concentration were determined and selected as evaluation indexes for evaluation model. The inverse distance weight interpolation method was used for sampling sites to obtain the relevant data of each index of each evaluation unit. Finally, the grade of different cultivated land fertility in the study area was determined. The results showed that the cultivated land soil in Sui county was mainly yellow brown soil, and the average p H was 5.85.The average organic matter content was 27.25g/kg.The total nitrogen concentration and the available phosphorus concentration were1.65 g/kg and 27.97 mg/kg,respectively.The average concentration of available potassium was 133.48 mg/kg.After evaluation, cultivated land fertility of Sui county was divided into six grades, and was mostly distributed in the fourth and fifth grades, which accounted for61.79% of the total cultivated land area. Therefore, the overall soil fertility of Sui county was in the lower middle level. The first and second grades with higher fertility level were mostly distributed Chaozhuang town,Shangtun town,Pinggang town,Changgang town, etc. And the cultivated land with lower fertility level was mostly distributed in Chengguan town,Shangtun town,Gongdi town,Zhoutang town, etc.Based on analysis, the obstacle factors affecting land use in this county include frozen mud deposition, middle green separation, sand texture, nutrient imbalance, shallow surface and so on.Hence, all the above factors should be carefully considered in terms of the improvement of cultivated land soil fertility.
