Role Scale, symptom Self-rating Scale and professional identity questionnaire of nursing students were used to conduct the survey.SPSS26.0 was used to analyze the data, and frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation,T test,Chi-square test, analysis of variance,Pearson correlation analysis and multiple step-to-step regression analysis were used.α=0.05,P<0.05 was considered as statistically significant.Results:(1)General information of the subjects: Among the 395 subjects,332(84.1%)are han ethnic group and 63(15.9%)are ethnic minorities;Ninety-six(24.3%)and 299(75.7%)were from double-first-class universities.Among them,109(27.6%)are from comprehensive universities, and 286(72.4%)are from medical universities.Among the students,161(40.8 %)came from urban areas and 234(59.2 %)from rural areas.Through normal analysis, the data included in this study are approximately normal distribution.(2)Professional identity level: The average score of professional identity of male nursing students was(3.49±0.76),which was in the middle level, and the score of social comparison and self-reflection dimension was the highest(3.71±0.82).There were significant differences in the professional identity scores of male undergraduate nursing students in ethnic group, grade, school type, whether they were the only child or not, mother’s education background, family per capita monthly income, whether they were class cadres or not, whether they had one volunteer to apply for the exam or not,and whether they had learning pressure when learning nursing(P<0.05).(3)Gender role types: The gender role types of male nursing students were mainly intersex and undifferentiated, and the number of intersex students was the largest 181(45.8%),followed by undifferentiated, feminine and choice, and whether they had learning pressure(P<0.05).(4)Mental health level: the average score of male nursing students was(149.46±67.19),which was above the average level. There were statistically significant differences in learning pressure(P<0.05).(5)There were significant differences in mental health level and professional identity among male nursing students of different gender roles(P<0.001).Pearson correlation analysis showed that mental health was negatively correlated with professional identity and its dimensions(P<0.001).(6)Multiple stepwise regression showed that the main influencing factors of professional identity were grade, school type, whether the first choice was registered, whether there was pressure to study nursing major, mother’s education background, male and undifferentiated gender roles, and total mental health score, which could jointly explain 27.5% of the variance of dependent variable professional identity.(F=17.052,P<0.05)Conclusion:(1)The level of professional identity of male nursing students is at the medium level, and the scores of social comparison and self-reflection in various dimensions are relatively high.Male nursing students from han ethnic group, junior, medical colleges, only child, mother with high educational background, high per capita monthly income of family, student cadre, one volunteer to apply for nursing major,no study pressure scored higher vocational identity.(2)The gender roles of undergraduate male nursing students were dominated by bisexual gender roles, and the male nursing students from junior college, ordinary undergraduate colleges, student cadres, one volunteer for nursing major and no study pressure accounted for a high proportion of bisexual gender roles.(3)The mental health of male nursing students was above medium level, and the proportion of obsessional factors in mild and moderate disorders was relatively high. The mental health of male nursing students without learning pressure was better.(4)There were significant differences in professional identity and mental health among male nursing students with different gender roles.Male nursing students with bisexual gender roles had better mental
