In August 1937,the Shanghai Coal-mining Ambulance Crew of the Red Cross Society of China, who threw itself into the rescue business as soon as the Battle of Shanghai broke out and thus effectively cover the shortage of the Red Cross rescue force, was born in the vigorous anti-Japanese national salvation movement. After Shanghai became an "isolated island",the large-scale Ambulance Crew was forced to"split into two".After a difficult time,it was incorporated into the Transportation Unit of the Red Cross Society of China, specializing in the transportation of wounded soldiers in Shanghai. In June 1938,the Shanghai Coal-mining Ambulance Crew of the Red Cross Society of China joined the New Fourth Army collectively, realizing its transformation from an anti-Japanese national salvation group to a revolutionary army, strongly supporting the logistics of the early-stage New Fourth Army. The development and evolution of the Shanghai Coal-mining Ambulance Crew of the Red Cross Society of China has shown a distinct political tendency. Its eventual decision to join the army is not only a successful application of the Chinese Communist Party’s anti-Japanese Uniform line, but also an inevitable choice under the background of the full-scale Anti-Japanese War.
