According to the latest WHO report on burden of alcohol consumption in the world. The harmful use of alcohol is one of the leading risk factors for population health.Alcohol consumption is seventh leading death factor worldwide, accounting for 2.2% of standardized death rate in among female population and 6.8% of deaths among male population worldwide. The alcohol consumption and Heavy drinking in particular is particular problematic in Eastern Europe and Post-soviet countries in particular.Russia for example was a subject to the well known phenomena of mortality crisis, which many attribute to excessive alcohol consumption. In this paper Author analyses current state of the research in the area of Alcohol consumption in Russia and The theory of health economics regarding alcohol consumption, attempting to investigate the influence of different patterns of alcohol consumption and hypothetical confounding factors on all cause mortality.Author selected socio-demographic,health and health related habits indicators as covariates of mortality. On that basis we are aiming to evaluate the influence of the light and moderate alcohol consumption, binge drinking and heavy drinking on all cause mortality.Based on previous research and theory of health economics we developed hypothetical model and validated it using individual micro-level data(HSE RLMS)and statistical software SPSS.We came to the conclusion that different alcohol consumption patterns have different effects on mortality, light to moderate consumption was shown to have positive effect on overall survival time, meanwhile binge drinking and heavy drinking were associated with higher risk of mortality.Male respondents were found to be more susceptible to the mortality associated with extreme patterns of alcohol consumption.Significant negative effect of simultaneous depression and binge drinking on individual mortality was established.Interaction of heavy drinking with smoking was found to be significantly associated with increase in mortality.According to our estimations unemployed individuals were found to be at higher risk of death related to heavy drinking.Binge drinking and heavy drinking on their own and in interaction with compounding factors significantly increase mortality.
