Development And Application Of Nurses’ Health Emergency Literacy Evaluation Scale

Objective1.The evaluation scale of nurses’health emergency literacy was compiled to provide a reliable and valid evaluation tool for evaluating the level of nurses’health emergency literacy.2.By used the health emergency Literacy Scale of nurse investigate the current situation of nurses’health emergency literacy level,and analyze the influencing factors of nurses’health emergency literacy level.Method1.Development of nurses’health emergency literacy evaluation scale(1)Based on the knowledge-attitude and practice framwork,combined with the entry of citizen health emergency literacy,this study developed the entry pool of nurses health emergency literacy evaluation scale through literature review.The items were screened and modified by Delphi expert correspondence method to form the initial version of nurses’health emergency literacy evaluation scale.(2)Using convenient sampling,223 nurses from one Class II A tertiary hospital,one Class III B tertiary hospital and one Class III A tertiary hospital in Qingdao were given the initial version of the scale in December 2020,tested with small samples,and 208 valid questionnaires were collected.The items were screened by discrimination analysis,correlation coefficient method,Cronbach’sαcoefficient and exploratory factor analysis to form a tentative version of the scale.(3)From January to February 2021,442 nurses from 4 Class III A tertiary hospitals,4 Class III B tertiary hospitals,and 3 Class II tertiary hospitals in Qingdao were given the provisional version of the scale and tested with large samples to test the reliability and validity of the scale.411 valid questionnaires were collected.The validity of the scale was tested by content validity,structural validity,aggregate validity and differential validity,and the reliability was tested by Cronbach’sαcoefficient,half reliability coefficient and test-retest reliability.2.Application of nurses’health emergency literacy evaluation scale411 valid questionnaires collected from January to February 2021 were used to analyze the current situation and influencing factors of nurses’health emergency literacy level through statistical description,single factor analysis and multiple linear regression.Result1.Finally,the formal version of the nurses’health emergency literacy evaluation scale with 65 items in three dimensions was formed,including health emergency literacy related knowledge(32 items),health emergency literacy related attitude(9 items),and health emergency literacy related behavior(24 items).The content validity index of each item is 1.0,and the content validity index of the scale is 1.0.The content validity of the scale is good.The results of the confirmatory factor analysis show the fitting indexes of the scale reach the acceptable range(χ~2/df=4.008,RMSEA=0.086,SRMR=0.079,CFI=0.860,TLI=0.853).The scale structure is acceptable and the structural validity is good.The mean variance extraction value(AVE)of each factor were 0.660,0.781 and0.758.The combined reliability of each factor were 0.955,0.969 and 0.972.The scale had good aggregate validity.In terms of discriminant validity,the correlation coefficient between knowledge and attitude,knowledge and behavior,and the correlation coefficient between attitude and behavior are less than the square root of AVE on the diagonal.The scale has good discriminant validity.In terms of reliability,Cronbach’sαof each subscale and total scale is 0.970～0.988.The half reliability of each subscale and total scale is0.978～0.996.The test-retest reliability of each subscale and total scale is 0.756～0.860.The all greater than 0.7.The internal consistency of the scale is good and has good reliability.2.The total score of nurses’health emergency literacy was(266.26±42.91).The total score of nurses’health emergency literacy related knowledge was(121.08±25.72).The total score of related attitude was(39.04±6.48).And the total score of related behavior was(106.14±16.32).The study found that the number of years of work and whether or not to participate in public health emergency rescue activities(such as earthquakes,fires,explosions,major traffic accidents,poisoning incidents,SARS,New Coronavirus,etc)were the influencing factors of nurses’health emergency literacy level(P<0.05).Conclusion1.Based on the knowledge belief-attitude and practice framwork and the citizen health emergency literacy items,the health emergency literacy assessment scale for nurses has good reliability and validity,and can be used as a tool to assess the health emergency literacy level of nurses.2.In the current situation analysis part,the survey results show that nurses are weak in nuclear radiation related knowledge,health emergency literacy related laws and regulations and related psychology.3.The analysis of influencing factors showed that the working years and whether they had participated in the rescue activities of public health emergencies were the influencing factors of nurses’health emergency literacy level.
