| Objectives:To investigate the life satisfaction,self-perceived burden(SPB)and different forms of social support of the disabled older adults in the community;to analyze the relationship between the activities of daily living(ADL)and life satisfaction of the disabled older adults in the community, and further explore the mediating role of social support and SPB.On the basis of exploring the impact factors of SPB and the differences in the levels of different forms of social support, this paper aims to find an intervention strategy targeting SPB and social support of the disabled older adults in the community. Methods:A cross-sectional study design was used to recruit 228 disabled older adults aged≥ 60 years old who chose home care in Beijing or Jinan from September 2022 to February 2023.The research tools were general data questionnaire,Barthel Index Rating Scale,Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS),The Self-Perceived Burden Scale(SPBS)and Medical Outcomes Study Social Support Survey(MOS-SSS).SPSS 23.0 and the PROCESS plug-in were used for data analysis.Test level α=0.05,P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. The statistical analysis included descriptive analysis,Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, independent sample t test,one-way analysis of variance,Spearman correlation analysis,Pearson correlation analysis, multivariable regression analysis and mediation effect analysis.Results:1.In this study, the average score of life satisfaction of the disabled older adults in the community was 21.74±6.69,and about 58.8%of the disabled older adults were satisfied with their current life. The average score of SPB was 25.04±8.75,and 71.5%of the disabled older adults had different degrees of SPB.The average score of social support was 54.85±13.69,the tangible support level>the emotional support/informational support level>the affectionate support level>the positive social interaction level, with statisticcally significant differences.2.The results of multivariable analysis showed that the SPB of the disabled older adults in the community was mainly affected by their age and degree of disability.Life satisfaction was mainly affected by their monthly income,self-rated economic status, disability level,self-rated health status and the number of children.3.The social support and SPB play a chain mediating role between the ADL and life satisfaction of the disabled older adults in the community. The indirect effect value was 0.066,which accounts for 44.30%of the total effect.Conclusions:1.The life satisfaction of the older adults with disability in the community is in the moderate level, among which, monthly income,self-rated economic status,self-rated health status and the number of children are important factors influencing their life satisfaction.SPB is at a mild level, mainly affected by age and degree of disability.2.The level of tangible support for the disabled older adults in community is significantly higher than other forms of social support.Compared with tangible support, other forms of support were more strongly associated with life satisfaction in the disabled older adults.More forms of support should be provided to the disabled older adults on the basis of providing tangible support and ensuring their basic quality of life.3.There is a positive relationship between the ADL and life satisfaction of the disabled older adults in community.Social support and SPB play a chain mediating role between the ADL and life satisfaction of the disabled older adults. It is an effective way to improve the life satisfaction of the disabled older adults when the disability cannot be completely reversed by improving the level of social support and reducing their SPB. |
