Objective:To explore the impact of a new model of pulmonary rehabilitation on the efficacy of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)under the novel coronavirus epidemic. Methods:During the novel coronavirus epidemic,74 patients with stable COPD admitted to our hospital were randomly divided into a remote group(the home-based telerehabilitation group,n=37)and a control group(the traditional pulmonary rehabilitation group,n=37).The remote group was treated at home for 8 weeks under the remote supervision of a physical therapist.Rehabilitation includes sports training and rehabilitation education. The control group received standardized rehabilitation for 8 weeks in the outpatient clinic. The six-minute walking distance(6MWD),quality of life, and self-efficacy of the two groups of patients were evaluated before the intervention, after the 8 weeks of intervention, and 6 months after the intervention. Results:After the 8 weeks of intervention, the remote group and the control group had significant improvements in 6MWD,quality of life, physical activity and self-efficacy(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in the improvement effect between the two groups(P>0.05).6 months after the intervention, the improvement of 6MWD in the remote group was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:During the novel coronavirus epidemic,home-based telerehabilitation can effectively improve the 6MWD,quality of life and self-efficacy of patients with COPD,and the improvement effect is similar to that of standardized outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation. It is expected to become a new and effective alternative pulmonary rehabilitation model.
