The Social Adaptation Of PLHIV

AIDS,as a social problem,has a far-reaching impact on the social life of every one of us.By the end of October 2021,more than 1.15 million cases of existing PLHIV have been reported in China(excluding Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan).In addition,there are also about 30% of PLHIV have not been detected,that is to say,they have not been tested and do not yet know the infection status from the perspective of testing.These PLHIV live in our society and may live around us.As an "invisible being",they are also actively or passively integrated into society and become part of normal participation in social activities.In the past 30 years,the social sciences have carried out a large number of researches on AIDS in China and have achieved a lot of important achievements,which has benefited the infected group tremendously.However,with the development of time and the diversification of sociological research perspectives,we pay more and more attention to the subjectivity of PLHIV in our research.From the perspective of theme construction,this study regards the infected person as an individual with subjective initiative to study the strategy choice and influencing factors when facing various social adaptation dilemmas.Through the unstructured interviews with 101 PLHIV and related practitioners,32 representative individuals were selected for in-depth interview and participant observation.The author found that HIV PLHIV faced the dilemma of role adaptation,economic adaptation,interpersonal adaptation and self-value adaptation in the process of adapting to society.Instead of being helpless but waiting for help in the face of various adaptation dilemmas,the PLHIV will actively choose corresponding adaptation strategies from psychological and behavioral aspects to adapt the society.Subsequently,the author analyzed the factors affecting the social adaptation strategies of the PLHIV from the aspects of individual,society,policy and culture.It also tries to put forward some countermeasures to solve the problem.
