Acupuncture prescription literature is an important part of acupuncture treatment literature.Early acupuncture-moxibustion prescriptions mostly focused on a single acupoint, while Thirteen Ghost Acupoints is an earlier complex acupuncture prescription composed of multiple acupoints, which includes treatment of diseases, selection of acupoints, and treatment methods. The Thirteen Ghost Acupoints were originally called "thirteen acupoints".The earliest record that can be traced back can be found in Sun Simiao’s Prescriptions for a Thousand Gold for Emergencies:Acupuncture and Moxibustion Tujue for Zhu Hengxie Madness Thirteen acupoints are needed for all evils Also.Because the names of the thirteen acupoints are all named after the word "ghost",so the Thirteen Ghost Acupoints are often used to refer to the thirteen acupoints in later generations. This article will take the ancient literature of the thirteen ghost acupoints as the starting point, and analyze the thirteen ghost acupoints by sorting out relevant medical works. Before combing the literature on the thirteen ghost acupoints, based on the thirteen ghost acupoints recorded in Prescriptions for a Thousand Gold for Emergencies, the acupuncture prescription of the thirteen ghost acupoints was interpreted. The acupuncture prescription is a relatively complete and complex acupuncture prescription, including the diseases to be treated, acupoint selection, treatment methods, and precautions. The disease treated by the thirteen ghost points is madness, and the acupuncture points that make up the acupuncture prescription are all effective points for treating madness. The acupuncture points are derived from Lingshu,Multiple Channel,Acupuncture A and B Classic,Elbow Reserve Emergency Prescription and other medical books. The use of acupuncture to treat madness has long been recorded in medical books, and the ancients believed that madness was a ghost disease,so Zhang Jue therapy was added to its treatment.Through the analysis of the composition and characteristics of the acupuncture prescription, the reasons for selecting the number of acupoints as "thirteen" and the connotation of ghost acupoint names are further discussed.Through discussion,it is found that the acupuncture prescription may have a certain connection with Taoism. As a literature on acupuncture and moxibustion, this acupuncture prescription has been copied, added and deleted in the process of circulation.Compared with the acupuncture prescription of thirteen ghost acupoints recorded in Prescriptions for a Thousand Gold for Emergencies, its components have undergone many changes. This article sorts out the ancient literature related to the Thirteen Ghost Points in detail, and divides them into two categories according to the genre.Through content comparison,it details the specific changes that occurred in the literature of acupuncture and moxibustion prescriptions during its circulation, and analyzes the reasons for these changes. And explore the impact of changes in acupuncture prescription literature. When sorting out the literature related to the thirteen ghost acupoints,I found that in addition to the thirteen ghost acupoints recorded in Prescriptions for Emergencies, there are four other medical books that recorded the thirteen ghost acupoints of Xu Qiufu, namely The Book of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Lingmen taught Bronze Man Finger Points,Acupuncture and Moxibustion Juying,Continuation of Famous Doctor Class Cases. In order to solve the confusion of whether these two thirteen ghost acupoints are two traditions, this article makes a detailed comparative analysis of the content of Xu Qiufu’s thirteen ghost acupoints recorded in these medical books, and compares them with the thirteen ghost caves recorded in Prescriptions for a Thousand Gold for Emergencies, analysing the si milarities and differences between them.Through comparison,it is found that Xu Qiufu’s thirteen ghost acupoints appeared not only later than the thirteen ghost acupoints in Prescriptions for a Thousand Gold for Emergencies, but also its composition framework did not deviate from the thirteen ghost acupoints of Prescriptions for a Thousand Gold for Emergencies. Therefore,Xu Qiufu’s Thirteen Ghost Acupoints should be a re-creation of the Thirteen Ghost Acupoints in Prescriptions for a Thousand Gold for Emergencies, and it was named after Xu Qiufu’s deeds of healing ghosts in historical books. As the earliest extant literature recording the thirteen ghost acupoints,Prescriptions for a Thousand Gold for Emergencies contains a wealth of information.Due to mistakes or misunderstandings in the process of copying the acupuncture and moxibustion literature handed down by later generations, the value of the literature has been greatly reduced. Therefore, based on the original literature of the thirteen ghost acupoints in Prescriptions for a Thousand Gold for Emergencies,we can not only trace its origin, but also analyze its spread and changes in later generations,so as to better understand the acupuncture prescriptions of the thirteen ghost acupoints.
