PurposeTo explore the intervention effect of walking exercise on chemotherapy-related cognitive impairment(subjective cognitive function, objective cognitive function)and sleep quality in breast cancer patients,to provide a reference for future clinical medical staff to prevent and improve chemotherapy-related cognitive impairment in breast cancer patients.Method56 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were recruited between December 2021 and November 2022 in breast and oncology wards. The control group patients received routine exercise guidance during chemotherapy, and the experimental group received walking exercise intervention based on routine exercise guidance. In the first chemotherapy admission and intervention 12 weeks, using a general data questionnaire,Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Cognitive Function,Montreal cognitive assessment scale,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index refers to the quantity table survey patients’ general data, cognitive function, and sleep quality, evaluate the influence of walking exercise on chemotherapy-related cognitive impairment in patients with breast cancer.Results1 The loss of the study subjectsIn this study,28 patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy were included in the control group and the experimental group at the baseline assessment. At the end of 12 weeks of intervention,26 patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy in the control group and the experimental group completed all data.Among them, one patient in the control group experienced severe adverse reactions to chemotherapy at one week of intervention, while the other patient experienced severe adverse reactions to chemotherapy at four weeks of intervention. The above two patients stopped treatment after experiencing severe adverse reactions,so they were all excluded. One patient in the experimental group was excluded from treatment after experiencing severe adverse reactions one day after intervention.Another patient was excluded from exercising according to this study’s exercise plan for 4 weeks of intervention, and the loss rate in both the control and experimental groups was 7.14%.2 Comparison of general data and baseline data between groups in the two groupsIn this study,a total of 52 patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy were finally included for data analysis, and the age, height, weight, education, occupation, cancer staging, operation mode, lymph node metastasis, chemotherapy program, etc.of the two groups were compared. The results showed that there was no statistical difference in the general information of the two groups of patients(P>0.05),so the general information of the two groups of patients was comparable. The results before the intervention showed that there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the total score of subjective cognitive function and each dimension score, the total score of objective cognitive function and each dimension score, and the total score of sleep quality and each dimension score(P>0.05).Therefore,the cognitive function of the two groups of breast cancer patients before the intervention was comparable.3 Comparison of post-intervention data between the two groupsPatients with breast cancer patients during chemotherapy routine exercise guidance, the experimental group based on routine exercise intervention for 3 months. In the experimental group, the total scores of subjective cognitive function and all dimensions, the total scores of objective cognitive function, the scores of language and attention, the total scores of sleep quality and all dimensions(except hypnotic drugs)were higher than those of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion1 Walking exercise can reduce the severity of chemotherapy-related cognitive impairment in breast cancer patients.2 Walking exercise can improve sleep quality in patients with breast cancer.
