Low-Dose Bupropion Combined With Lidocaine For Painless Gastroenteroscopy

Abstract/Summary:
OBJECTIVE: To explore the comfort,efficacy and safety of low-dose butorphanol combined with lidocaine for use in painless gastrointestinal endoscopy.Methods: 248 patients scheduled for painless gastroscopy were randomly divided into group S(propofol 2 mg/kg + saline),Group B(propofol 2 mg/kg + butorphanol10 μg/kg),Group BL(propofol 2 mg/kg + butorphanol 10 μg/kg + lidocaine 1.5mg/kg),and Group L(propofol 2 mg/kg + lidocaine 1.5 mg/kg).Systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),heart rate(HR),pulse oximetry(Sp O2),operation time,induction time,awakening status,walking time,total propofol consumption,and adverse events of anesthesia were recorded during the examination.RESULTS: A total of 248 patient data were analyzed.The total consumption of propofol in the BL group(183.46 ± 45.93 mg)was the lowest among the four groups and was statistically different(P < 0.05)compared with the S group(224.75 ± 58.64mg).The induction time and the incidence of choking somatic movements were also lower in the BL group than in the S group(P < 0.05).Group B awakened faster than group S(P < 0.05).Group B had a slower heart rate than group S(P < 0.05),but did not experience bradycardia and recovered rapidly.There were no statistically significant differences in the total length of gastroscopy,PACU stay,walking time,postoperative abdominal pain,or adverse events of nausea and vomiting.CONCLUSION: When performing painless gastroscopy,bupropion 10 μg/kg +lidocaine 1.5 mg/kg combined with propofol resulted in less total propofol consumption,shorter induction time,and lower incidence of propofol injection pain and choking somatic movements than propofol-only anesthesia,and did not affect recovery time,hemodynamic stability,or the incidence of adverse events.
