Objective:By analyzing the case data of patients with urinary calculi from China and Jordan, the differences in the incidence, risk factors and treatment methods of urinary calculi between China and Jordan were discussed. Methods:Through a designed questionnaire,we collected data of 354 patients with urinary calculi from the Department of Urology in one Chinese hospital(East Lake Hospital and Xianghu Hospital,Nanchang First Affiliated Hospital)and 300 patients from the Department of urology in two Jordanian hospitals(Al Essra Hospital and specialized hospitals).Statistical methods were used to analyze the collected data and compare the differences in the risk factors and treatment methods of patients with urinary calculi in the two countries. Results:In our study, the incidence of urinary calculi was 6.0% in China and approximately 9.0% in Jordan. There was no significant difference between men and women overall.Stratified analysis by age showed that the number of young adults with the disease was more than that of middle-aged and elderly people, and there was no significant difference between the two countries in each age stage(P > 0.05).There were 521 cases of kidney calculi,117 cases of ureteral calculi and 13 cases of bladder calculi, accounting for 77.60%,17.43% and 1.93%,respectively.Hydropyelonephrosis,hypertension and epilepsy were more common in Jordanian patients(P < 0.05),while there was no significant difference between the two groups in diabetes, renal cyst and other concomitant diseases(P > 0.05).In China, more patients are diagnosed by CT and ultrasound, and in China patients are required to complete the KUB x-ray examination before undergoing surgery, while in Jordan, intravenous pyelography is still the main diagnostic method. There are many factors that cause urinary calculi.Among the patients in China, urination problems, high pressure life, the habit of eating late night snacks and the consumption of coffee, tea and beverages are significantly higher than those in Jordan.Jordanian patients had more to do with family history, sweating,NSAID use, vegetarian diets, high sugar and soy consumption. Conclusion:Jordan has a higher incidence of urinary calculi than China. The young and middle-aged are more common than the elderly.CT is used more frequently in the diagnosis of urinary calculi in China, while intravenous pyelography is preferred in Jordan. There are many factors that cause urinary calculi. In China,it may be more related to high stress life and tea and beverage consumption, while in Jordan, sweating or vegetarian diet is more related to urinary calculi.
