Objective A questionnaire was compiled to researched the knowledge, attitude and practice of ICU nurses about delirium in six tertiary class A general hospital of Anhui Province, and to analyze the factors affecting the knowledge, attitude and practice of ICU nurses about delirium and the obstacles to clinical delirium assessment. In order to provide theoretical basis for hospital administrators to carry out delirium related training and standardize delirium nursing. Methods 1.Construct a questionnaire on knowledge, attitude, practice and influencing factors of ICU nurses about delirium An entry pool of the questionnaire about knowledge and behavior of ICU nurses about delirium was constructed by referring to relevant literature, combining with the guidelines related to delirium and expert consensus, etc. At the end of two expert letters, the contents of the entry pool were modified or deleted according to expert opinions and suggestions, and an initial questionnaire was formed to investigate the knowledge attitude and practice of ICU nurses about delirium and its influencing factors. After the pre-survey test, the questionnaire was found to have relatively good reliability and validity, and finally formed the formal "ICU nurses’ knowledge, attitude, practice and influencing factors of delirium questionnaire".2.To investigate the status quo and influencing factors of ICU nurses’ knowledge, attitude and practice on delirium The convenience sampling method was adopted to select ICU nurses from 6 Grade-III Grade A general hospitals in Anhui Province from July 2022 to September 2022 as the survey objects. With the help of SPSS 23.0 statistical analysis software, the recovered questionnaire data were statistically analyzed, descriptive statistical analysis was selected to elaborate and analyze the general demographic data of the study subjects in this survey, and ANOVA and multiple linear regression analysis were selected to deeply analyze the influencing factors of ICU nurses’ delirium knowledge, attitude and practice. Results 1.Results of a questionnaire on knowledge, attitude, practice and influencing factors of delirium among ICU nurses The questionnaire formed after two rounds of expert letter consultation included a total of 54 item pools, including 23 items of knowledge dimension,6 items of attitude dimension,7 items of behavior dimension and18 items of evaluation influencing factors dimension. The analysis of the pre-survey data revealed that the overall Cronbach’s α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.93,the overall retest reliability of the questionnaire was 0.90,the S-CVI/UA of the questionnaire was 0.93,and the I-CVI ranged from 0.86 to 1.0,denoting that the questionnaire had fairly good reliability and validity, which eventually formed the official survey of this study questionnaire.2.Investigation results of knowledge, attitude and practice of ICU nurses on delirium and its influencing factors A total of 398 valid questionnaires were collected in this study, among which the accuracy of knowledge score was 57.5%,the average score of attitude score was(26.75±3.43),and the average score of attitude score was(26.74±4.56),indicating that ICU nurses’ cognition level of delirium knowledge was in the lower middle level. This correlation analysis revealed a positive relationship between knowledge, attitude and practice of ICU nurses, and the correlation coefficient r was between 0.230 and 0.421,P<0.05.Multiple linear regression analysis results show that,Professional title(nurse B=1.447,supervisor B=2.307),nurse level(N5 B=-2.245),years of work in ICU(6-10 years B=-1.114),ICU specialist nurses(B=0.745),received training related to ICU delirium(B=3.122)and how the department evaluated ICU delirium(ask the doctor in the department to evaluate B=-0.998)were the main factors affecting the delirium knowledge score of ICU nurses key factor(P<0.05);ICU delirium training(B=1.003)and how the department evaluated ICU delirium(B=-0.968)were the main factors affecting the delirium attitude score of ICU nurses(P<0.05).Department(surgical ICU B=-1.980,medical ICU B=-1.117),ICU specialist nurses(B=1.096),and how their department evaluated ICU delirium(using assessment tools B=2.119)were the main factors affecting delirium attitude scores of ICU nurses(P<0.05).Conclusions 1.The self-compiled questionnaire of ICU nurses’ knowledge and practice of delirium and its Influencing factors has good reliability and validity, and can be used as an investigation tool to understand the status quo of ICU nurses’ knowledge, attitude, and practice of delirium.2.The ICU nurses in the tertiary Class A general hospital in Anhui Province have some knowledge about delirium, but their knowledge is not comprehensive and accurate enough, and their attitude and practice about delirium management are positive.Relevant departments in hospitals still need to strengthen the training and assessment of delirium knowledge of ICU nurses, improve the cognitive level of delirium management of ICU nurses, promote their ability to proactively screen and evaluate and screen delirium behavior in clinical nursing work, constantly improve the quality of nursing services, ensure patient safety, and improve the clinical outcome of patients.
