Development And Preliminary Application Of The Chinese Version Of The Intensive Care Experience Questionnaire

Objectives1.In this Thesis,the ICEQ for ICU patients developed by Rattray was introduced and revised in Chinese,ICEQ was translated into Chinese,its reliability and validity were tested,and The Chinese Intensive Care Experience Questionnaire was finally developed,which can provide a reference assessment tool for domestic intensive care experience research.2.To investigate the status quo of patients’experience in ICU with Chinese version of ICEQ,understand the sources of patient experience and analyze its influencing factors.Methods1.In the translation stage,the research team and experts group were established after obtaining the authorization of the author,and the Beaton cross-cultural debugging guide was adopted to modify the scale.From November 2021 to May 2022,356 patients who met the standard in four Grade A hospitals in Chengdu were investigated by questionnaires.Including the patients general data,clinical data,and ICEQ.SPSS25.0and Amos21.0 software were used to analyze the data.SPSS25.0 and Amos21.0 software were used to analyze the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of ICEQ,which including the Internal consistency reliability,Split half reliability,Structure validity,Convergence validity and Content validity tests.2.In the preliminary application stage of the Chinese version ICEQ,from June 2022to September 2022,229 patients who meeting the standards in four Grade A hospitals in Chengdu were selected by convenience sampling method for questionnaire survey,including general patient data,clinical data and ICEQ.IBM SPSS25.0 software was applied to the collected data for descriptive analysis,univariate analysis and multivariate analysis.Results1.The Chinese version of ICEQ contains 21 items and 5 dimensions:Awareness of Surroundings,Frightening Experiences,Satisfaction with Care,Recall of Experiences and Cognitive Needs.There were five common factors extracted from Exploratory Factor Analysis,and cumulative explanatory variation rate was 60.634%.Confirmatory Fctor Analysis showed that x^2/df was 2.567,RMSEA was 0.069,GFI was 0.888,AGFI was0.856,indicating good model fitting.Cronbach’sαcoefficient of five dimensions of the ICEQ ranged from 0.815 to 0.888,and the split half reliability ranged from 0.806 to 0.891.The I-CVI,S-CVI and S-CVI/Ave were all 1.0;Entry factor load coefficient is greater than 0.5,AVE is between 0.4 and 0.6,and CR values of all dimensions are above 0.7.2.The score of patients’intensive care experience of ICU was moderate,the score of Awareness of Surroundings was（17.85±6.63）,Recall of Experiences was（12.73±3.48）,Frightening Experiences was（11.99±3.34）,Satisfaction with Care was（11.68±3.73）,and Cognitive Needs was（1 0.10±2.58）.The multiple linear results showed occupation types,APACHEII score medical payment method,different types of ICU were the factors affecting patients’awareness of surroundings experience.There was no statistically significant results that found on the Frightening Experiences.Mechanical ventilation and ICU type were the factors affecting patients’satisfaction with care.Education level,marital status and length of stay in ICU were the influencing factors of patients’recall of experiences.Different occupational types were the influencing factors of patients’cognitive needs experience.Conclusions1.The ICEQ was modified in Chinese according to Beaton’s cross-cultural Guide,the Chinese version of ICEQ contains 21 items and 5 dimensions and which has good reliability and validity.It can be applied to assess the intensive care experience of ICU patients in China.To provide reference for quantifying patient experience,understanding the source of patient experience,and facilitating early clinical intervention to improve experience of ICU patients.2.Although the score of ICEQ of ICU patients is at a moderate level,it still reflects the important source of patients’negative experience.Occupation types,APACHEII score,medical payment method,ICU type,mechanical ventilation,educational level and marital status are important factors affecting patients’experience.It is suggested that clinical managers should improve nurses’understanding of patient stressors and influencing factors.Design nursing activities in a way that promotes positive patient experience to provide a reference for further improving outcomes for ICU survivors.
