Objective:1.To collect, analyze and study the literature on the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy with medicinal insects, and to outline the current status, dynamics and future trends of research in medicinal insects.2.To use Meta-analysis to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness and safety of using medicinal insects to treat diabetic peripheral neuropathy to provide further evidence-based medical evidence for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy with traditional Chinese medicine.Materials and Method:The data was collected by computer in China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Pub Med,Wanfang,Weip,China Biology Medicine disc,Emb ase,Web of Science and The Cochrane Library..The period was from J anuary 1,2012 to December 31,2022,and the literature related to the t reatment of DPN with dredging meridians and collaterals by medicinal insects was collected and the included literature was randomized cont rolled trials of Chinese herbal compound tonics or proprietary Chinese medicine preparations with insects as the main or basic remedy for t he treatment of DPN with or without the combination of western medi cines, and the Cochrane Risk Assessment Tool was used for quality as sessment, and forest plots and funnel plots were drawn using Rev Man 5.4 software for Meta-analysis summary and discussion. Results:A total of 25 documents were included, with 1132 in the trial group and 1145 in the control group. The results of this meta-analysis are summarized as follows.1.Incidence of adverse reactions:I~2=0%,OR=0.52,95%CI[0.24,1.11],P=0.09.2.Total clinical efficiency:I~2=0%,OR=4.61,95%CI[3.47,6.14],P<0.00001.3.Median nerve motor nerve conduction velocity:I~2=92%,MD=5.56,95%CI[3.99,7.13],P<0.00001.4.Median nerve sensory nerve conduction velocity:I~2=66%,MD=4.85,95%CI[4.08,5.61],P<0.00001.5.Motor nerve conduction velocity of common peroneal nerve:I~2=87%,MD=4.39,95%CI[3.28,5.49],P<0.00001.6.Sensory nerve conduction velocity of the common peroneal nerv e:I~2=92%,MD=5.29,95%CI[3.71,6.86],P<0.00001.Conclusion:The combination of worm medicine or worm medicine with western medicine was more effective than western medicine alone in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and there was no significant difference in the safety of worm medicine or worm medicine with western medicine in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy compared with the western medicine alone.
