Objective:To evaluate tongue function and morphology after tongue reconstruction in 50 patients with tongue cancer. Methods:Fifty patients who underwent tongue lesion resection and tongue reconstruction were selected.General clinical data, swallowing function, speech function and the range of tongue movement were collected and analyzed. The morphology and function of tongue after tongue reconstruction were compared between different repair methods. Results:Compared with the patients with class II tongue defects, the patients with class I tongue defects recovered well after surgery,And voice function, swallowing function There was significant difference in tongue protrusion and tongue deviation between the two groups(P < 0.05).In the group of patients with class II tongue defects, the function and morphology of patients repaired with free forearm flaps were better than those repaired with free anterolateral thigh flaps,There were significant differences in speech function and swallowing function(P < 0.05).The number of patients with class III tongue defects and class IV tongue defects was too small to be statistically significant. Conclusions:For patients with small tongue defects after resection of tongue lesions, local suture can recover their postoperative function to the greatest extent. For patients with tongue defects of 1/3 to 1/2 after tongue lesion resection, free forearm flaps have more advantages than free anterolateral thigh flaps. For patients with tongue defects exceeding the midline or tongue base defects after resection of tongue lesions, free anterolateral thigh flap can effectively restore the volume and shape of the tongue body, and obtain better speech and swallowing function effects.
