Objective:Through a randomized controlled clinical trial, the clinical efficacy of lateral puncture method combined with sparrow-pecking moxibustion and simple oral western medicine in the treatment of lateral epicondylitis of wind-cold obstruction type was observed and compared, and to compare the efficacy of the two methods in relieving the pain and improving movement limitation of patients were compared,in order to provide a clinical treatment with high efficacy and no obvious side effects. Methods:A total of 64 patients with lateral epicondylitis who met the requirements of this study were selected from the Outpatient clinic and Inpatient Department of acupuncture and moxibustion department and orthopedics of the Second People’s Hospital affiliated to Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2022 to December 2022.Randomized controlled trial was used to divide the subjects into observation group and control group with 32 cases each. Both groups were given health education, and the observation group was treated with lateral puncture method combined with sparrow-pecking moxibustion. The acupoints were Ashi(the affected side),LI11(the affected side),LI12(the affected side),GB34(the healthy side),GB20(both sides),LU7(both sides). They were treated once every other day,and a total of 7times(14 days). The control group was treated with oral diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets once a day,for a total of 14 days. The basic data of patients were collected before treatment, and the visual analogue scale/score(VAS score),mayo elbow performance score(MEPS),pain free grip strength(PFG)and grip index of patients were recorded before and after treatment, and the efficacy was evaluated. One month after the treatment, the patient’s VAS score and MEPS were recorded through outpatient re-examination,and the efficacy was evaluated again.SPSS 26.0 software was used for data statistics and analysis, and P<0.05 was considered to be statistically significant.Results:1.A total of 64 cases of patients with lateral epicondylitis of wind-cold obstruction type were included in this project, and 61 cases were finally completed the research(2 cases dropped out in the observation group,1 case dropped out in the control group, and the total drop-out rate was 4.69%).2.Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in baseline data,VAS score,MEPS,PFG and painless grip strength between the two groups(P>0.05),which was comparable. The two groups were comparable.3.VAS score: After treatment,VAS score of both groups could be reduced, and observation group was lower than control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).At follow-up,VAS score of observation group was lower than control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.Mayo elbow joint function score: MEPS could be improved in both groups after treatment, with statistical significance(P<0.05).In terms of pain, motor function and daily activities, the observation group was better than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In terms of stability, there was no statistical significance between the two groups(P>0.05).At follow-up,the total score of MEPS in observation group was higher than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In terms of pain, motor function and daily activities, the observation group was better than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In terms of stability, there was no statistical significance between the two groups(P>0.05).5.Painless grip strength: Both groups could improve the PFG value of patients, and the observation group was better than the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).6.Grip strength index: Both groups could improve the grip strength index of patients, and the observation group was better than the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).7.Clinical efficacy evaluation: After the treatment course, the total effective rate was 90.00%in the observation group and 83.87% in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).At follow-up,the total effective rate was 86.67 % in the observation group and 70.97% in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusions:1.Both treatment methods can relieve the pain, improve the grip strength, and improve the function of elbow joint in patients with lateral epicondylitis of wind-cold obstruction type. The combination of lateral puncture method and sparrow-pecking moxibustion group is better than the oral diclofenac sodium group, but there is no significant difference in stability between the two groups.2.The curative effect of lateral puncture method combined with sparrow-pecking moxibustion in treating lateral epicondylitis of wind-cold obstructing type is better than that of oral diclofenac sodium group, and the curative effect is more durable.
