Objective:This study was conducted to observe the clinical efficacy of the combination of the Cangfu Guiding Phlegm formula plus reduction and acupuncture point burial therapy in treating patients with phlegm-damp obstruction evidence of polycystic ovary syndrome, and to provide a more effective TCM treatment plan for patients with this evidence of PCOS by using a combined internal and external treatment method.Methods:Seventy-two patients were randomly divided into two groups(experimental group and control group)according to the inclusion criteria,36 patients each. Both groups underwent basic treatment with diet, exercise, psychological stress reduction and other lifestyle interventions. The menstrual cycle, body mass index(BMI)and waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),scores of TCM symptoms, relevant serum luteinizing hormone(LH)to follicle stimulating hormone(FSH)ratio, testosterone(T),fasting blood glucose(FPG)and fasting insulin(FINS),insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR)hormone levels, body hair score and safety were recorded before and after treatment in both groups.assessment, and other indicators were statistically analyzed.Results:1.Before treatment, the general data such as age, disease duration, height, weight,BMI,waist circumference,WHR,relevant laboratory test indexes and clinical data such as TCM evidence score and body hair score of the two groups were statistically analyzed and compared, and the results showed that P>0.05,and the differences were not statistically significant.2.The total effective rate of comprehensive efficacy after treatment was 84.4% and70.6% in the test group and the control group, respectively;it was statistically significant((P=0.003<0.05),),and the results showed that the efficacy of the test group was significantly better than that of the control group.3.Within-group comparison after treatment: the general data of weight,BMI,waist circumference,WHR and the data data of serum indexes(T,LH/FSH,FINS and HOMA-IR),hairy score, and the total score of Chinese medicine main and secondary symptoms in both groups were lower than those before treatment, with statistical differences(P<0.05).The difference in FPG between the two groups before and after treatment was not statistically significant(P>0.05).4.Comparison between groups after treatment: there were statistically significant differences between the two groups in weight,BMI,waist circumference,waist-hip ratio, relevant serum indexes(T,LH/FSH,FINS and HOMA-IR),and hirsutism score(P<0.05);there were statistically differences between the two groups in the comparison of total points of TCM main and secondary symptoms(P<0.05);in the comparison of single points of TCM main and secondary symptoms In the comparison of individual points of TCM main symptoms and secondary symptoms, the results of menstrual cycle, menstrual color and quality, body obesity, less breath and laziness, fatigue, heavy limbs, loose stools, and excessive amount of discharge showed P<0.05,and the differences were statistically significant;while the results of menstrual volume, dizziness and heaviness, greasy mouth and phlegm, and distention and fullness of the abdomen showed P>0.05,and the differences were not statistically significant;the differences of FPG between the two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:The combination of internal treatment with Cangfu Guiding Phlegm Tang and external treatment with acupuncture point burial therapy has better clinical efficacy for obese PCOS patients with phlegm and dampness obstruction, and is significantly better than the group taking Chinese medicine alone in improving clinical symptoms and reducing body weight.
