Clinical Study On Jianpi Tongqiao Zhiti Decoction Based On The Theory Of ’Spleen Is Often Deficiency’ In Treating Children With Allergic Rhinitis(Spleen-Qi Deficiency Syndrome)

Objective: This research aims at observing the clinical efficacy of Jianpi Tongqiao Zhiti Decoction based on the theory of children’s ‘spleen being often insufficient’ in treating children with allergic rhinitis(spleen-qi deficiency syndrome),and providing an effective therapeutic regimen for TCM treatment of allergic rhinitis among children.Methods: A total of 86 patients(aged 3 to 18)who met the inclusion criteria for the study were used as observation subjects.The subjects were divided into two groups by the method of random number table based on the order of outpatients’ sequence,with 43 cases in both the treatment and control groups.During the course of the treatment,78 cases had finally completed the treatment,with 8 cases dropped out,which remained 40 cases in the treatment group and 38 cases in the control group.Treatment group simple orally took Jianpi Tongqiao Zhiti Decoction,while control group merely orally took patent medicine Yupingfeng Granule.7 days were considered as a course of treatment,and both groups were observed and compared for 2 courses.Scores of nasal symptoms and signs and TCM syndromes were recorded at the node of pre-treatment,after 1 week of treatment,after 2weeks of treatment and 1 month after treatment respectively,and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0 software.Results:1.General information: There was no significant difference in data between the two groups before treatment,and two groups are verified to be comparable.2.Scores of nasal symptoms and signs: Within group comparisons,nasal symptoms and signs scores decreased in both groups relative to pre-treatment,and there was a statistical difference within two groups(P<0.05).Compared between two groups,after two weeks’ treatment there were statistical differences in the total score,nasal itching,sneezing,and nasal mucosa edema after treatment(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in the scores of runny nose and nasal congestion(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the comparison of nasal runny nose scores 1 month after the end of treatment(P>0.05),and the treatment group was relatively better than the control group in terms of nasal itching,continuous sneezing,nasal congestion and nasal mucosal edema(P<0.05).3.Scores of TCM syndromes: By conducting intra-group comparison,all scores of TCM signs and symptoms were lower than before treatment in both the treatment and control groups,which was statistically different(P<0.05).By comparing the two groups,after two weeks’ treatment there was no significant difference between the treatment and control groups in fatigue scores of the post-treatment(P>0.05).There was a statistical difference in the total score,yellow face,loss of appetite,bloating and loose stool scores(P< 0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups in the scores of abdominal distension and fatigue 1 month after the end of treatment(P>0.05).The treatment group was better than the control group in terms of yellow face,loss of appetite and loose stool(P<0.05).4.Clinical curative effect: After 1 week of treatment,the total effective rate was 72.50% in the treatment group and 50.00% in the control group,p=0.034<0.05 for comparison between the two groups.After 2 weeks of treatment,the total effective rate of the treatment group was 82.50% and the total effective rate of the control group was 63.15%,p=0.020<0.05 for the comparison analysis between the two groups.The total effective rate of the treatment group was 77.50% and the total effective rate of the control group was 55.26% one month after treatment,P=0.008<0.05 for the comparative analysis between the two groups.This indicating that the treatment group outperformed the control group in both the first and second sessions,and the treatment group was more stable in maintaining the efficacy of the treatment.Conclusion:1.Oral administration of Jianpi Tongqiao Zhiti Decoction and oral administration of the patent medicine Yupingfeng Granule have positive effect in the treatment children with spleen-qi deficiency syndrome.However,it is more effective when taken Jianpi Tongqiao Zhiti Decoction and the effect remains more stable.2.Jianpi Tongqiao Zhiti Decoction has better performance in improving nasal itching,sneezing,and nasal mucosal edema in children with allergic rhinitis(spleen-qi deficiency syndrome)than the control group.But there is no significant difference in the efficacy of improving runny nose and nasal congestion between the two groups.3.Jianpi Tongqiao Zhiti Decoction is better in improving children’s allergic rhinitis(spleen-qi deficiency syndrome)sallow complexion,loss of appetite,distension of the abdomen,and loose stools than the control group;However,there is no significant difference in the efficacy of the two groups in improving fatigue.4.Both therapeutic methods are safe and easy to be accepted by patients in the treatment of children with allergic rhinitis(spleen-qi deficiency syndrome),and are worthy in clinical promotion.
