Objectives: The outbreak of dengue fever every year was occurred in Laos every year since the first dengue report in 1979,and its rapidly spreading to 18 provinces across the country, currently it has become one of the public health issues in Laos. This study was investigated the epidemic characteristics and affect factors of infectious dengue fever in Vientiane Capital of Laos from 2020 to 2021,providing the references for local dengue prevention and control strategies and measures. Methods: One field site was chosen from each side of the east, west, south, north and central areas of Vientiane Capital, where adult mosquitoes were collected by human landing collection and mosquito collection in animal stables, and Aedes larvae were collected from containers of indoor and outdoor in the survey sites.By the morphological identification for all adult mosquitoes or 4th instar larvae, the species composition of dengue vectors were investigated,as well as their important ecological habits;the seasonal fluctuation of local DF case was investigated by the surveillance of suspected dengue cases;above data were analyzed by using Excel 2013 and SPSS 24.0software.The knowledge, attitude and vector control pattern of DF prevention and control were investigated by random sampling method in the above-mentioned investigation sites, the data were enrolled into Microsoft Excel and the chi-square test, the correlation between the data and the factors of DF infection was analyzed,it was considered that the factors analyzed were different between case group and non-case group as p value low at 0.05.Results: 17 species of mosquitoes were collected from 6 genera of 2 subfamilies,of those Culex tritaeniorhynchus,Culex quinquefasciatus and Culex gelidus were predominant species, their accounting for 33.93%(955/2815),29.52%(831/2815)and17.76%(500/2815)of the total collection mosquitoes, respectively, and Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus were accounted for 1.72% and 2.22% respectively, the peaks of activities of Ae.aegypti were occurred at 09:00 am and 18:00 pm,as the other periods were relatively lower, and the active periods of Ae.albopictus were almost similar except noon at 12:00;Aedes mosquito larvae were breed in whole year from 2020 to2021,which in 2020,the peaks of Breteau Index(BI),House index(HI)and Container index(CI)were higher in April with 20,25 and 12.1 respectively, and in 2021 their peaks on May and June with their averages at 25.7,12.1,9.1,respectively;DF cases were occurred in the whole year, and peaks of cases were from June to August. There was no significant difference whether infected DENV or not in sex, education and occupation(P>0.05),but with significant differences between underage group and adults group, age group at 18-59 years old and non-18-59 years old,and age group less than 60 years old and more than 60 years old(P<0.05),and with differences among Gardeners, clerks, civil servants between dengue cases and non dengue cases(P<0.05,as well as significant differences on the actively taking mosquito control measures such as mosquito net,mosquito-repellent incense, fan, clothes, repellent, sand door, sand window, and covering water container with cover to prevent local residents between dengue cases and non dengue cases(P<0.05).Conclusion: Ae.albopictus and Ae.aegypti, the vectors of dengue fever, were widely distributed in Vientiane Capital of Laos, with high the population densities,as well as dengue cases.Above results showed that the risk of dengue fever outbreak was high, and poor of local residents’ knowledge of dengue prevention and their self-protection,suggesting the relevant departments should strengthen dengue surveillance and education of dengue knowledge.
