| Objective1.Introduce and Chinese vestibular Activity and Participation Scale(VAP scale)and vestibular environment scale in a scientific way.vestibular activity and participation and environment scale(VAP-e scale)was revised and developed.2.VAP-e scale was tested clinically to verify its reliability and validity;3.Quantify the disabling effect of vestibular disorders on a person’s daily life to provide a reliable measurement tool for assessing the degree of vertigo in patients with vestibular dysfunction for future application in nursing research and clinical practice.Methods1.Expert consultation of Sinicization of Scale and Delphi Method: Authorized consent of two authors of original scale was obtained by email. In this study, the initial VAP-e scale was formed by following the Brislin translation method to carry out cis-translation,back translation,Delphi method expert letter consultation and preliminary experiment.2.Reliability and validity test of the scale: 360 patients with vestibular dysfunction in the ear, nose and throat department of a third Class A hospital were selected for one-to-one questionnaire, and statistical software SPSS25.0 and AMO25.0 were used for data processing. The general data of the research object are described by frequency and component ratio.Items of the scale were screened using item analysis, reliability and validity evaluation using content validity, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, criterion correlation, internal integrity reliability analysis evaluation scale.ResultsIn this study, sinicization, cultural adjustment and reliability and validity test were carried out on the scale, and finally a VAP-e scale with 20 items and 3 dimensions was formed.1.Item analysis of the scale:(1)The analysis results of critical ratio method showed that the decision values of items 1~21 were all >3,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).(2)Correlation coefficient method analysis shows that the correlation coefficient of items11,13 and 21 is lower than 0.4(P<0.01),and the correlation coefficient results of other items are between 0.401 and 0.691(P<0.01),which can be retained. After discussion, according to the contents of items 11 and 13,After repeated discussion in the literature,it is considered to be retained, while item 21 is deleted.3.Scale validity:(1)The mean S-CVI and I-CVI of the Chinese VAP-e scale in content validity analysis were 0.924 and 0.833 to 1.000 respectively;(2)Exploratory factor analysis was used,KMO value was 0.841,Bartlett spheroid test approximate chi-square value was 884.826,df=190(P < 0.01),indicating that the scale was suitable for factor analysis. After two rounds of exploratory factor analysis, the cumulative variance interpretation rate was 55.475% when the number of common factors was finally limited to 3.(3)Confirmatory factor analysis was used to model the three dimensions of the scale with maximum likelihood method to get the results. The initial model was not ideal. After adjusting the standardization path of the existing items, the coefficients ranged from 0.517 to 0.931,all of which were greater than the standard value of 0.40.(4)Pearson correlation coefficient method was used for criterion correlation analysis, and it was concluded that the total score of DHI was positively correlated with the scores and total scores of all dimensions of the VAP-e scale(r= 0.339-0.644,p<0.01).3.Reliability of the scale:Cronbach’s a coefficient of the total scale was 0.866;Cronbach’s a coefficients of each dimension were 0.916,0.789 and 0.853,respectively.The half coefficient of the scale was0.943,and the half coefficient of each dimension was 0.940,0.871 and 0.873.ConclusionIn this study, the VAP-e Scale of vestibular Activity participation and environment(VAP-e scale)was scientifically translated into Chinese and tested for reliability and validity. Finally, the official Chinese version of the VAP-e scale was formed, which has good reliability and validity. The Chinese version of VAP-e scale contains 20 items,3 dimensions and one non-itemized item. The VAP-e scale can be used to measure the degree of vertigo in patients with vestibular dysfunction and help patients to be identified faster and more accurately, providing a reliable basis for medical staff to evaluate patients’ conditions, and providing a reference for the next step to make care plans for patients. |
